Ellen Pompeo è nata nei dintorni di Boston. Il padre è originario di Gesualdo, un paese in provincia di Avellino. Ha vissuto per diverso tempo come bambinaia a New York. Successivamente si è trasferita a Miami lavorando come cameriera prima di ritornare a New York. Nel 1996 realizzò il suo primo spot commerciale per il bar (SoHo Bar & Grill) in cui lavorava catturando l'attenzione di un agente. In seguito a questo episodio partecipò alla realizzazione di alcuni spot per Citibank e L'Oreal. A queste prime esperienze seguirono delle partecipazioni a ruoli secondari in alcune serie televisive come Strangers with Candy.
Ellen è anche apparsa come guest star nel telefilm cult "Friends".

Patrick Dempsey è di origini irlandesi,nasce il 13 Gennaio nella città di Lewiston ma cresce nella città di Turner.Patrick ha frequentato il St. Dominic Regional High School, dove la madre Amanda lavorava come segretaria,ma lascia la scuola prima di ottenere il diploma.Patrick fu scoperto da un agente e invitato a presentarsi a un audizione per la produzione di "Torch song trilogy".Patrick fece un'ottima audizione e ottenne il ruolo passando 4 mesi in tourné con la compagnia teatrale a San Francisco.Dopo altri ruoli in diverse produzioni teatrali Patrick ottiene il suo primo ruolo importante cinematografico all'età di 21 anni nella commedia per teenager "Can't buy me love" nel 1987.
Patrick in seguito fece una serie di provini per serie tv ma non riuscì mai a ottenere un ruolo di primo piano La grande occasione di Patrick arriva finalmente con lo show di successo "Grey's Anatomy" anche se prima di ottenere il ruolo per il dottor Derek Sheperd,Patrick aveva fatto l'audizione per un altro medical show "House Medical Division".
Per quanto riguarda la sua vita privata Patrick è stato sposato due volte.Dal 1987 al 1994 è stato sposato con l'attrice Rocky Parker e dal 1999 Patrick è sposato con la truccatrice Jillian Fink da cui Patrick ha avuto 3 bellissimi figli.

Katherine Heigl nasce nella grande Washington da Paul Heigl e Nancy (entrambi di origini tedesche).Katherine è la più giovane di cinque fratelli.Quando Katherine aveva appena 9 anni una sua zia in visita decise di farle qualche foto per poi proporle a una serie di agenzie per modelle di New York con il permesso dei genitori di Katherine.In poche settimane Katherine diventò una baby modella.Dopo alcuni servizi pubblicitari Katherine ottenne anche la possibilità di girare qualche spot pubblicitario.In seguito la carriera di Katherine continuò a crescere anche sul grande schermo riuscendo ad ottenere qualche ruolo in alcuni film e nel 1999 Katherine viene notata dal grande pubblico nella serie tv "Roswell".Dopo il grande successo ottenuto con la serie "Roswell" Katherine continua a recitare in una serie di film anche se la svolta arriva nel 2005 quando ottiene la parte della dottoressa Isobel Stevens nello show "Grey's Anatomy".

Sandra Oh nasce a Nepean nello stato del Canada dove i suoi genitori originari della Korea l'hanno cresciuta.Sandra ha frequentato la Sir Robert Borden High School dove si è distinta per il suo impegno,infatti Sandra è stata eletta presidente del consiglio degli studenti,suonava il flauto,ha fatto parte del corpo di ballo e in seguito ha iniziato a interessarsi alla recitazione.Questo interesse l'ha condotta a frequentare il corso di recitazione a scuola e in seguito ha continuato a studiare recitazione alla National Theatre School di Montreal.Sandra ha recitato in parecchie produzioni televisive canadesi e in alcuni progetti cinematografici ma il grande successo arriva con lo show televisivo "Grey's Anatomy" dove Sandra interpreta il ruolo della dottoressa Christina Yang, ruolo che le permette di vincere un Golden Globe nel 2006 e tanti altri premi.
Per quanto riguarda la sua vita privata Sandra ha avuto una relazione con il regista Alexander Payne,i due sono stati sposati per 4 anni ma nel 2006 la coppia ha deciso di divorziare.
