Michael Rosenbaum will not be returning as a series regular for Season 8. Negotiations are continuing to try and bring Allison Mack back next year. Kristin Kreuk will be back for at least part of Season Eight.
Tom Welling, Aaron Ashmore, Laura Vandervoort, and Erica Durance are all still said to be signed and expected to return for the show's eighth year. John Glover was also still on contract, though we saw from "Descent" that there was a change in plans.

Two new characters have been announced for Season 8:
Doomsday: In season eight, Clark will face his ultimate challenge with the appearance of the legendary, unstoppable destroyer Doomsday, who appears on “Smallville” for the first time. As comic book fans know, Doomsday is notorious for being the only character in the DC Comics universe to have killed Superman.
Female villain: Doomsday won’t be Clark’s only nemesis in the upcoming season. The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him.
The series is curently casting for series regulars Davis Bloome and Tess. The latter will first appear in a scene with Clark. The lady is tresspassing on the Kent Farm. As Clark and she chit chat, she reveals that she is in Smallville to look over the Luthor Mansion since Lex has disappeared. Tess tries to blackmail Jimmy so she gets some answers about Lex. As for 20-year-old and sexy Bloome, he'll be introduced in a scene with Lois at the Ace of Clubs bar where he bartends. Bloome admits to Lois that he's been living all his life with the feeling that something was lurking inside of him that he can't control. Source: SpoilerFix.com
Returning for its eighth season, this new interpretation of the enduring Superman mythology and its classic characters blends realism and adventure into an exciting action series. Last season, Clark Kent and Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) became the sworn enemies that comic book aficionados have always known and loved. The season also brought storylines of Krypton and the El family, including the arrival of Clark's cousin Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort), and the return of Brainiac (James Marsters). There were also exciting guest stars from the Superman mythology, including Dean Cain ("Lois & Clark") and Helen Slater ("Supergirl"). Clark discovered more about his home planet, who his parents were, what his future holds and why he was sent to Earth. The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, Erica Durance as Lois Lane and Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen. Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon," "Spiderman 2"), based on the DC Comics characters. The executive producers are Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.
Details On Smallville's Two New Season 8 Characters!
Casting breakdowns have gone out for the two new characters of Smallville Season 8.
Here's what they are looking for. Could "Davis Bloome" be an alter ego for "Doomsday" and "Tess" be short for "Tessmacher?" Watch and see...
DAVIS BLOOME: 26, Charming and handsome. Davis is the new bartender at
the hip Metropolis lounge. Ace of Clubs, where he plays down his smoldering good looks with a self-effacing wit and down-to-earth soulfulness. Despite the ease with which Davis relates to his new
friends, he carries with him the long-felt feelings of a perpetual outsider. Beneath Davis' charismatic, easy going demeanor lies a brooding sense of isolation and insecurity.. When he begins to delve into the haunting mysteries of his true origins, a darker truth begins to emerge, one of blood and serial murders, one of survival and utter destruction--one in which he is forced to confront the true evil inside of him...SERIES REGULAR.
Want to know how they'll fit in? Read details of these characters' "test scenes!"
TESS: 28, Drop Dead Gorgeous. Determined. Sexy. Vengeful. And with
amped physical strength. While Lex is away, she is in control of his estate and rules it with aggression. She's had intellect and the confidence all her life, though it's obvious she's had some training from Lex, as well. But as much as Lex has helped fortify her power, he is also her biggest weakness. She harbors an undying devotion to Lex,
claiming he saved her life a few years ago. She carries out his wishes with coercion, force, seduction and anything to get what she wants, and no one can resist her beguiling ways. Even Clark Kent. She doesn't remember anything before the day she met Lex. Once she realizes her previous life is buried below the surface, she's desperate to dig it
up...SERIES REGULAR.
Sources confirm that producers are very keen on bringing [Justin] Hartley, [who played Green Arrow] back into the fold ASAP. Source: The Ausiello Report
Multiple sources confirm that after weeks of tense negotiations, Allison Mack has sealed a deal to return next season as a series regular! Although the specifics of the new contract -- which was signed just hours ago -- are being kept under wraps, I'm told it calls for Mack to appear in all episodes produced next season. As luck would have it, the official casting breakdowns went out last week, and here are the highlights: Doomsday: Real name: Davis Bloome. He's in his mid-20s. He works as a bartender at the hip new Metropolis lounge Ace of Clubs. He plays down his smoldering good looks with a self-effacing wit and down-to-earth soulfulness. But he has long felt like an outsider (hence his nickname). And beneath his charismatic, easy-going demeanor lies a brooding sense of isolation and insecurity. When he begins to delve into the haunting mysteries of his true origins, a darker truth begins to emerge, one of blood and serial murders, one of survival and utter destruction - one in which he is forced to confront the true evil inside of him." Tess: Drop-dead gorgeous.Roughly 28 years old. She's determined, sexy, vengeful and has super-strength. "While Lex is away, she is in control of his estate and rules it with aggression. She's had intellect and the confidence all her life, though it's obvious she's had some training from Lex as well. But as much as Lex has helped fortify her power, he is also her biggest weakness. She harbors an undying devotion to Lex, claiming he saved her life a few years ago. She carries out his wishes with coercion, force, seduction - anything to get what she wants. And no one can resist her beguiling ways. Even Clark Kent. She doesn't remember anything before the day she met Lex. Once she realizes her previous life is buried below the surface, she's desperate to dig it up." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

Some Season 8 Snippets
It is likely that Lex will simply be "missing" as the new season begins. In his place the new character "Tess" will be looking over his assets. Producers hope to get Michael Rosenbaum back for guest shots; whether or not they will be successful at getting him remains to be seen.
- If Laura Vandervoort does not return as a series regular, it is likely that Kara will remain in the Phantom Zone until she can be rescued.
- Phil Morris may be returning as the Martian Manhunter in Season 8, and James Marsters has expressed interest in more appearances as Brainiac.
Source: KryptonSite
Laura Vandervoort (Kara) will not be a series regular next year. However, she may return for a few episodes.
Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow) will be returning to Smallville as a series regular.
- Kristin Kreuk will be appearing in "6 or 7 episodes" with the exact number yet to be determined.
- Erica Durance is contracted for her usual amount of 12-13 episodes as Lois; however, this number can be increased to more if Lois is needed for more.
Lex will have disappeared and will be presumed dead.
- Don't be surprised if Ollie is back as early as the season premiere (perhaps to break Chloe out?)
The CW just confirmed that Justin Hartley (Green Arrow/Oliver Queen) has been locked in as a series regular for the upcoming eighth season! According to the show's rep, Justin's storyline will focus on Oliver's past and where he comes from as opposed to his Green alter ego. I'm also told that Kristen Kreuk (Lana) will most definitely be back for a batch of episodes-most likely six or seven-but they're still working out the exact number. Source: Kristin on E!Online

General Spoilers:
Rocked by the mysterious death of Lionel Luthor and the sudden disappearance of his son, Lex, the town of Smallville will be put further on edge this fall with the arrival of two new villains, as Sam Witwer ("Battlestar Galactica") and Cassidy Freeman ("Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee") join the cast of "Smallville" as series regulars for the hit show's eighth season. Witwer will play Davis Bloome, a charismatic Metropolis paramedic who - when he isn't saving people - is forced to confront a burgeoning darkness inside of him that just might be a harbinger of doom. Freeman will play Tess Mercer. Handpicked by Lex Luthor to succeed him before he vanished, Tess arrives in Smallville as acting CEO of LuthorCorp. Beneath her mysterious allure lies a cunning ruthlessness to match her mentor's. Source: The CW
Sam Witwer, best known to Battlestar Galactica fans as ex-Raptor ECO Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo, has been tapped to play the series regular role of Doomsday. Additionally, relative newcomer Cassidy Freeman is joining the cast as Tess, a sexy and vengeful firecracker with whom Lex hires to run his empire in his absence. Source: Michael Ausiello
Episode 8.01 will be called "Odyssey"
Tess has the last name of "Mercer," and Davis Bloome (formerly thought to be a bartender) will now be a paramedic, as revealed in an official press release. The roles will be played by Sam Witwer and Cassidy Freeman.
Episode 8x01: "Odyssey"
September 2008
The new season begins several months after the events of the Season 7 finale.
- Casting is currently underway for "Kat," a young, eager assistant for Tess, who also makes her first appearance in this episode; and "Nikolai," a man who works on a boat with Clark near the Arctic. Roles also now being cast include a Researcher, a Scientist, and a Guard.
- Clark is brought home by some possibly-surprising rescuers.
- Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) returns in this episode.
Episode 8x01 "Odyssey"
The "Researcher," "Scientist," and "Guard" roles are involved with Chloe's storyline.
- When Clark returns to Metropolis, he'll have a big surprise for Lois.
Episode 8x02 "Plastique"
There is a DC Comics villain named Plastique from Firestorm and Captain Atom comics, though we are not sure if that character has any connection to this episode's title.
Episode 8x01 "Odyssey"
TV Guide has answered several of the questions about who might be saving Clark, and some new tidbits:
- Clark's rescuers will be none other than the Justice League. Expect to see not only Justin Hartley as the Green Arrow; Alan Ritchson will be returning as Aquaman, Alaina Huffman is back as the Black Canary, and Phil Morris makes his return as John Jones, the Martian Manhunter.
- The magazine also reveals what Clark's surprise is for Lois: He's taking the job at the Daily Planet, right acros from her desk. "This season's theme is 'double identities'," executive producer Kelly Souders told TV Guide. "It's about the Superman identity emerging as Clark Kent tries to maintain a normal life — or the appearance of a normal life."
- "The cameraderie as they work side-by-side that everyone loves from the DC Comics and all the Superman lore is going to come to fruition this year," Souders continues. "The two of them are thrown together in some unfortunate situations for Clark. She becomes a little bit of an obstacle to him saving the world, when he's on a deadline."
Episode 8x02 "Plastique"
This episode will explore Clark's first day on his new job and his teaming with Lois.
- The character of paramedic Davis Bloom makes his first appearance in this episode, and he interacts primarily with Chloe.
Episode 8x01 "Odyssey"
Chances are good for Tom Welling fans that we will see an unshaven Clark as the story picks up a few months after the previous finale.
Episode 8x02 "Plastique"
Contrary to some reports that Chloe will be serving time for a while... in actuality, Chloe will no longer be incarcerated by the time this episode happens.
- Justin Hartley (Oliver) and Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy) do not appear in this episode.
Episode 8x02 "Plastique"
"Plastique" does indeed involve Bette Sans Souci, the character from the DC Comics universe. In this version she is a "15 year old street kid" who is injured in an explosion, and Chloe asks her to move in.
Episode 8x01 "Odyssey"
TV Guide has revealed the premiere date: September 18.
Episode 8x02 "Plastique"
Bette has a connection to Level 33.1 or something very much like it.
- Roles now being cast, in addition to the role of Bette, include the following: Security Agent, Young Cop, Medic, Tommy, Clerk, and two CSI's.
Episode 8x02 "Plastique"
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello has revealed that we may have a Chloe/Doomsday/Jimmy love triangle brewing. Also, regarding Lois and Clark at the Daily Planet: "There will be a lot more comedy this season, courtesy of those new adventures Lois and Clark will be embarking on."
Episode 8x01 "Odyssey"
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello dropped a big bomb in his latest "Ausiello TV" vodcast: Chloe says yes to Jimmy's proposal, setting the stage for a possible wedding later this season. Sorry, we don't make this stuff up...
- The CW said on screen that the premiere is October 2, so we're really confused about the premiere date now.

- Get ready for the return of the Justice League. When Smallville comes back, the Super Friends reunite to search for Clark Kent, who went missing in May's season finale after tussling with Lex Luthor at the Fortress of Solitude. [...] One of the first things the new quartet did was lock in Justin Hartley for at least 12 episodes as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen, a fan favorite who appeared frequently in Season 6 and once last season. He'll start this new chapter by gathering Aquaman and Black Canary to rescue Clark. Alan Ritchson and Alaina Huffman will reprise their roles, as will Phil Morris, whose Martian Manhunter also appears in the opener, titled "Odyssey." Source: TV Guide Online
General Spoilers:
- Fan fave [Justin] Hartley is sticking around for at least 12 episodes as Green Arrow and his alter ego, Oliver Queen. He'll have a mysterious connection to Tess Mercer, a shady new character (played by Cassidy Freeman) who is searching for the missing Lex. [...] Also new is Sam Witwer, who plays David Bloome, an EMT who becomes a brutal menace by night. "Part of his mystery this season is not only revealing what he's doing, but also what his origin is and where he comes from," executive producer Kelly Souders teases. Source: TV Guide
- Get ready for a Jimmy/Chloe/Doomsday triangle. Source: The Ausiello Files
- This season's theme is "double identities," Souders says. "It's about the Superman identity emerging as Clark Kent tries to maintain a normal life - or the appearance of a normal life." To that end, he takes a job at the "Daily Planet," right across the desk from Lois Lane. "The camaraderie as they work side-by-side that everyone loves from the DC Comics and all the Superman lore is going to come to fruition this year," Souders says. "The two of them are thrown together in some unfortunate situations for Clark. She becomes a little bit of an obstacle to him saving the world, when he's on a deadline." [...] Kristin Kreuk will not be back for the season opener, since that episode is already chock full of Justice Leaguing goodness. Kristin will be back, though, for multiple episodes (or specifically five, if the Canadian version of ET is to be believed). Source: TV Guide Online
Episode 8x03 "Toxic"
Roles now being cast for "Toxic" include a Reporter, Marcos, Guard, Angelica, Megan, and Police Officer.
- Oliver is poisoned and collapses at a fundraiser tying in with the release of the Warrior Angel movie.
- Chloe and Clark attend the fundraiser together.
- Title Posted. Please do not repost this on other websites without a link to KryptonSite.com.
- Despite the title, Britney Spears has nothing to do with this episode.
Episode 8x04 Title Unknown
Casting notices have gone out in Vancouver for the role of Maxima. Maxima first appeared in DC Comics' Action Comics #645 back in 1989 and was at one time even a member of the Justice League comic book continuity. She also appeared in the Superman animated series. The comics version of Maxima is a royal queen from the planet Almerac determined to make Superman her bride.
- We don't know the title for this one yet, although considering the character, "Maxima" is a strong possibility.
Episode 8x04 Title Unknown
A super-powered character named "Melissa" has her eyes on Clark. They kiss and he tries to resist. Originally casting notices for this episode called for "Maxima," a character from the DC Comics universe of characters, but apparently this has been changed... we're assuming for either legal or creative reasons.
Executive producer Darren Swimmer reveals: [...] We're very interested in bringing Kara back for some episodes this season, schedules permitting. [...] As fans of the comics know, Oliver Queen had some rough times in his earlier life. This season we'll get a glimpse of how some of those experiences are coming back to haunt him. [...] We do plan on having Clark and Oliver team up more this year than we've seen in past seasons. [...] What helps is that neither [Lex nor Lana] is actually dead in the universe of the show, even if they don't appear every week. The effect that both of these characters has had on Clark is indelible. Luckily, both actors are so incredibly talented, they created personalities that will continue to resonate in the lives of the other characters. [...] Part of what excited the four of us to bring Doomsday into the show was the fact that he has no previously established Earthly alter ego in the comics. Davis Bloome will be very different from the Doomsday we've seen in the comics. Especially at first. We thought it would be interesting to see the human side of a character that had very little humanity in the comics. [...] Doomsday did kill Superman in the comics, so Clark better be on his toes. [... Tess Mercer will] be interested in Clark, but for entirely different reasons than Lex was. Source: Newsarama

Episode 8.09 - Legion
The Legion of Super-Heroes is coming to Smallville, and the writer who's guiding the futuristic team in comic books will be the one introducing them to the show.
Geoff Johns, writer of next month's Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds mini-series for DC Comics, will also be writing the Legion's introduction to the Smallville television show. As announced Sunday at San Diego Comic-Con, Johns will be writing "Legion," the ninth episode in this year's season 8 of Smallville.
"I've known the Smallville writing team – Todd [Slavkin], Darren [Swimmer], Brian [Wayne Peterson] and Kelly [Souders] – for a long time," Johns told Newsarama. "I had an idea for an episode, so we all had lunch. And I pitched them the idea of bringing the Legion of Super-Heroes to Smallville. And we're off and running."
In comics, the Legion of Super-Heroes is a group of super-powered teenagers from 1,000 years in the future who are inspired by the legend of Superman. The Legion story, which saw the young heroes time-traveling back to visit a young Clark Kent, recently inspired a Warner Bros. animated TV series.
Smallville fans had already seen updated versions of several DC Comics heroes on the live-action show, including Green Arrow, who's become a regular character. Just last month, it was announced that a new "Doomsday" character, played by Battlestar Galactica alum Sam Witwer, will be added to the Smallville cast this season as a nemesis for actor Tom Welling's Clark Kent.
While the show's very human-looking Doomsday is apparently a re-interpretation of the monstrous comics character who once killed Superman, according to Johns, the Legion that appears in his Smallville episode will be the team that comic book readers recognize.
"I can't get into any specifics about the story we're telling because we’re still working on it all. But they're from the 31st Century. And it will be focusing on some obvious characters who first met Clark," Johns said. "It will be written to fit with Smallville, and I think it's going to be a really fun challenge to approach the Legion in a different way. But with me, you know you're going to see Legion rings, and they're going to be as true to the core as possible. It's going to be the Legion of Super-Heroes."
Johns, who just recently used Legion characters in a story he wrote for the Superman-centered series Action Comics with artist Gary Frank, couldn't confirm if the Legion characters he's introducing in Smallville would appear in more than one episode.
As Smallville fans may remember, this won't be the first time the name "Geoff Johns" is attached to the show. In Season 4, a super-powered, villainous football-playing character was named Geoff Johns. And as most comic book fans know, Johns shares offices with former Smallville writer and comic book creator Jeph Loeb, who was involved with the series during Seasons 2-4.
"Like I said, I've known the Smallville team for a long time. And I have to thank Jeph Loeb for introducing me to those people in the first place," Johns said. "I'm really looking forward to working on the show. It's exciting to see the Legion be part of that."

Spoiler riassuntivi dell'ottava stagione, li ho tradotti qualche giorno fa:

Laura Vandervoort revealed at the 2008 FanExpo in Toronto, Canada that she will be returing to Smallville for an episode to wrap up her storylines. Her episode shoots in October, which means it will probably land somewhere between #9 and #11 of the season. Sadly, Michael Rosenbaum has given no indication that he will be returning, and he has revealed that he is currently in negotiations for a film role. (Source: TheTVAddict)
General Spoilers:
- Laura Vandervoort, who played Kara in Season 7 of The CW's Smallville, announced at the Fan Expo in Toronto that she will be featured in a Season 8 episode. "In October, I'm shooting," Vandervoort said during a panel with Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor for the first seven seasons. "I only know of one episode right now. They've asked me to tie up my storyline." Source: Variety

Oliver Queen/Green Arrow will also get the spotlight in an upcoming episode where he is poisoned, and that also gives Clark and Chloe some reason to spend quality time together: "That's an episode that we will find out a lot about Oliver and his past, and Clark and Chloe will work together to save him," [says exec producer Darren Swimmer.] Source: Kristin on E!Online
Episode 8.04: Instinct
Airdate: October 9, 2008
Lest you fear our boy Clark may be living a monastic existence this season, know that Maxima is on her way. As [exec producer Darren] Swimmer explained it: "Maxima is the intergalactic goddess who needs to mate, and humans just don't fill the bill. The way that we portray her, one of her powers is skill at making herself irresistible to the men who come upon her-and Clark will not be immune to that. There's going to be one episode, but we're hoping to do more than one. Charlotte Sullivan is the actress we cast, and she did a really great job, she's really interesting." Episode 8.07: Identity
Airdate: October 30, 2008
If you were so inclined, you could probably blame Jimmy Olsen for the cape, tights and giant S thing. According to [exec producer Darren] Swimmer, "There's an episode where Jimmy will think he sees something and starts connecting it to Clark, and Clark has to dig himself out of it. That starts Clark thinking that maybe it would be wise to have a secret identity. He starts embracing the idea that there's someone out there saving people. He's not denying that completely anymore, he's just not ready to tell anyone it's him. And that makes this year very exciting for us." No telling yet if there's actually going to be a costume, but the Superman brand is definitely in development... Source: Kristin on E!Online
Episode 8.10: Legion
Airdate: November 2008
[Exec producer Darren] Swimmer confirmed an appearance by the Legion of Superheroes (not to be confused with the Justice League, although Swimmer also said they would love to have a storyline for Justice Leaguer Wonder Woman on the show). Regarding the Legion: "It's three superheroes, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad-although we might not use those names-on a mission from Superman in the future, who sends them back to help make things right." Source: Kristin on E!Online
General Spoilers:
This is the season of Clark's Superization. According to [exec producer Darren] Swimmer, "He's going to be seeking out the trouble, as opposed to reacting to trouble when it happens. One of his main motivations for going to the Daily Planet was to be somewhere where the information comes in." Consider D.P. to be his own personal police band radio. "He's going to be much more on patrol than he was ever in his life-and he's really stepping up in a big way to his destiny." And since his destiny and the Daily Planet are over in the big city, "The feel of the show is going to be a lot more Metropolis this year." Don't worry, though, Clark still lives in Smallville as of season eight, and there will be plenty of scenes back in the old home town. [...] According to Swimmer, "Erica Durance and Tom have such a great chemistry on camera together as Lois and Clark. I just love seeing the dailies. They're going to be butting heads a lot, as usual. They'll be teaming up on stories and getting into the typical hijinks together." However, even though Clark reportedly offers Lois her old room at Kent farm, Swimmer tells me they will not be living together-for now. Kristin Kreuk will be back, for five episodes total, right in the middle of the season, at what Swimmer calls "a fairly inopportune time." Like at a moment when Lois and Clark just happen to be making out in a closet? "It won't be that drastic, but you're not that far off." Still, when it comes to the legendary drama that is "Clana," Swimmer said, "Clark is getting past it. He's not mulling over it too much, he's learned his lessons, and it's time for him to move forward, but of course, when Lana shows up in person, that makes things a lot more complicated for him." [...] No Michael Rosenbaum at all this season. I know that's truly awful, but to make it up to you, they are introducing Samuel Witwer as Davis Bloome/Doomsday. Said Swimmer, "Sam is fantastic, he's doing a really great job playing a guy who's sort of the tortured supervillian." (Swimmer also told me there's ongoing discussion about introducing Darksied as well, so hang in there for developments on that.) The other antagonist this season is Tess, a Luthercorp apparatchik. Or should I say apparat-chick ? Because as Swimmer explains, late in the season Tess becomes a new contestant in the Clark love derby: "Tess is definitely interested in him-and who wouldn't be?" [...] As for Clark's allies, Supergirl will be back for either episode eight or nine. I asked why she wasn't back full time and Swimmer told me, "Her appearance was great, but the story that we told with her seemed to come to a natural ending point for the time being." Episode 8x08 "Bloodline"
All of the regular cast members except for Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy) appear in this episode.
- Executive Producer Darren Swimmer has said in an interview with E! Online that Kara returns in either episode #8-8 or #8-9. This could be the one where Kara comes back; or, she may be in the Legion episode instead, assuming that is still scheduled to be #9.

Episode 8x10
Chances are good that this will be the Jimmy and Chloe wedding episode, and it has been said that the event will be a "bloody mess."
- Comments from "Legion" writer Geoff Johns also imply episode #10 will be a big event: "I can tell you with confidence, the season they have planned is easily the most ambitious to date," he said in a forum posting. "There are so many twists and turns. And episode 10. Episode 10 is INSANE. My episode is now 11, so it's going to be a hard act to follow, but I'll give it my all. I have to say too, that if they pull off where they're taking Doomsday...I mean, I didn't understand where they were going when they announced that Doomsday had a human alter ego. But it's freaking cool. As hell. And fans of the comics are going to be blown away when everything is actually revealed. It's really pretty spectacular."
Episode 8x11 "Legion"
Writer Geoff Johns has revealed that "Legion" has been pushed back to episode #11, and he has this to say about "Legion" on a comic book forum: "They are absolutely, 100% on point with the Legionnaires and their relationship with Clark Kent. I can say you'll see an appearance by one of the Legion's better known enemies, but I can't reveal who just yet. More information to come when I can talk about it."
Episode 8x08 "Bloodline"
Lois finds herself in a very unexpected situation. It's not a romantic situation, but it is putting her in a place she's never been before.
Episode 8x09 "Abyss"
The friendship of Clark and Chloe will be explored, and there may be some flashbacks going all the way back to the first time she visited his very "Amish" barn.
- Only four of the show's eight recurring cast members appear in this episode.

Episode 8x10
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello has revealed that episode #8-10 will feature the return of Kristin Kreuk as Lana.
Episode 8x10
Erica Durance's TV Guide interview confirms this. "I know that they're bringing her back [in Episode 10], and that creates some heartache for Lois. They have the whole triangle going again. I don't know exactly how they'll be doing that, but it will be in a way that's very hard for Lois. I wouldn't want to speak for Clark, but I think that he's kind of realizing glimpses of that and how he feels about Lois. He's just not willing to admit that to himself or to her. When Lana comes back, that creates a real problem," she says.

Intervista a Erica Durance:
Erica Durance: Già, lo so.
Erica Durance: Non c'è nessun bacio, mi dispiace dirvelo.

Episode 8x12 "Bulletproof"
Clark goes undercover as a cop after [Detective] John Jones is shot, hoping to find out what actually happened. His cop alias is "Joe Fordman," which could be a reference to Whitney Fordman from Season 1.
- The character of police inspector Dan Turpin - who first appeared in Jack Kirby's New Gods comic book series - makes his first Smallville appearance in this episode. Turpin has a 4-year-old son who is emulating the "Red-Blue Blur" that has enthralled Metropolis in recent months. Turpin's cop partner has recently been murdered.
- Oliver has resumed the role of Green Arrow by this point.
- Turpin witnesses Clark talking to the Green Arrow and realizes he is not who he says he is.
- Dr. Emil Hamilton - also a character from comics lore - assists Clark and Oliver to help John Jones and his unique physiology. Note that Dr. STEVEN Hamilton was the "Dr. Hamilton" seen in Smallville's early years. Keep in mind that the presence of Turpin or Dr. Hamilton could be subject to change.
- Cop sentiment over costumed heroes and vigilantes is rather low.
- Lana and Oliver are keeping a secret from Clark.
Episode 8x11 "Legion"
Alexz Johnson, who starred in The N's Instant Star, is said to be filming a role on Smallville this week. Could that role be that of Imra Ardeen, a.k.a. Saturn Girl of the Legion? Visit Rumorville for more details...

Episode #8-11: "Legion"
In an interview posted on IGN.com, writer Geoff Johns has revealed that we will see Legion flight rings and also makes a reference to the "villain's weapon." No confirmation yet on who that Legion villain will be, but maybe Johns or The CW will eventually be persuaded to spill the beans.
- Johns has revealed that Kristin Kreuk has a "powerful" and "heartfelt" scene and that Allison Mack has some "pretty intense things" to do in the episode.
- Regarding casting: "I love who they have playing the Legion. They look great. I'll talk more about them when they're announced," he says. "But they freaking rock. Legion rings, the villain's weapon -- holy s**t, wait until you see HIM-- "Grife!", they are the Legion."
- Johns seems happy with how the episode is turning out: "I'm actually surprised by how faithful the Legionnaires will be to the comics. It's really faithful to the comic book series. Who they are as people, what they do, it's all in there. Obviously it's going to be a little different because they're just coming back for the first time to meet Clark. They're uniforms are the Smallville versions, not spandex. But I'm really happy with how faithful it is. And writing the first live action of the Legion is an honor."
Episode #8-13: "Power"
Some Luthorcorp experiments are being done involving Lana. Apparently these experiments are what is keeping her alive.
- Dr. Grohl (the scientist from "Arrow" and "Fallout" who was recently seen again in "Instinct") is involved with these experiments, which may also have ties to Project: Ares from previous seasons.
- The three series regulars to appear in this episode are Tom Welling (Clark), Allison Mack (Chloe), and Cassidy Freeman (Tess).
Episode #8-9: "Abyss"
Confirmed in the episode's promotional trailer: One of the sort-of-flashbacks seen in "Abyss" will be Chloe's discovery of Clark's secret in "Pariah."

- Lois Lane (Erica Durance) returns in this episode.
- Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy), Cassidy Freeman (Tess), and Justin Hartley (Oliver) do not appear in this episode.

Episode #8-11: "Legion"
Ryan Kennedy will be playing Rokk Krinn/Cosmic Boy.
Episode 8.11: Legion
Airdate: January 2009
In the devastating wake of what happens at the end of ["Bride"] - let's just say that Davis isn't feeling like himself and Chloe is due for a helluva honeymoon - Smallville is going to need a truly super clean-up crew. Cue the arrival of Saturn Girl (aka Imra Ardeen), Lightning Lad (Garth Ranzz) and Cosmic Boy (Rokk Krinn), all of whom travel far to tackle this task - specifically, from the 31st century. Played by Alexz Johnson (well-known for her run as Jude on Instant Star), Calum Worthy (who has had a handful of appearances on Psych) and Ryan Kennedy (from CTV's Whistler), the trio of helping hands will effectively introduce Clark to the famed Legion of Super-Heroes. The three Legionnaires are slated to make their debut in Smallville's first episode back following the midseason break: "Legion," penned by Geoff Johns (a favorite scribe of DC Comics fans) and airing Jan. 15. Source: TV Guide Online
Episode 8-15: "Infamous"
Linda Lake threatens to expose Clark, but Clark decides he's going to reveal the truth of himself - on his own terms - before she gets the chance to.
- The news media is in a frenzy over the Red-Blue Blur, and they approach Chloe to ask what it's like to be the hero's best friend. They ask what it's been like to keep his secret for so long, which may imply that her memories are returned by this point.
- Jimmy is transported to Metropolis General, and Chloe refers him as her husband.
- A teenage admirer fakes a fall so Clark will rescue her.

More Spoilers For Smallville Season 8
In the latest issue of SciFi Magazine, executive producer Kelly Souders has revealed some tidbits about things to come (thanks to Cheers at DI who originally brought this online):
- Chloe and Jimmy will "try to manage life" after the wedding but things will not be easy for them.
- Tess's league of super-powered villains will be let loose at some point this season. ("Injustice," anyone?)
- Souders notes that Clark's double identity will face new challenges, and that Oliver and other members of the Justice League haven't had the same struggles with developing their superhero identities, because their first identities aren't lies. For Clark, the transition is harder because Clark Kent, farmboy, is already a mask. She adds that Clark's humanity also gets in the way.
- The producers have planned two different potential arcs to end Season 8, depending on if there is another season. Regardless of when it happens, the final episode will be "either a heroic send-off or a heartbreaking decision for Clark to move on to the next phase." Souders is confident that the show could work for a ninth season. "People have been telling Superman stories for decades, so we have no doubt we can tell stories for another year," she says.
- Regarding romantic futures for Clark and Lois: "After a near-kiss with Lois, emotions and lust are flying. Their chemistry is charging ful speed ahead, but let's face it, their insecure walls are getting in the way."
TV Guide magazine has confirmed that the Toyman from Superman comics will be appearing. This may happen in episode #8-14, though it could happen at another time - no specific episode was named aside from it airing in "early February."
- Another assemblage of the Justice League may come before season's end.
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
Title Revealed. Please do not repost this on other websites without a link to KryptonSite.com.
- The episode's guest is a character named "Cassie" whose father taught her about sorcery before he passed away. We're wondering if "Cassie" might be a substitute name for the DC Comics magician character Zatanna, much like "Melissa" was substituted for "Maxima" in initial leaks. Many Silver Age DC Comic books told the tale of Zatanna looking for her father, Zatara. Interesting trivia: Zatara first appeared in the same comic book that introduced Superman - Action Comics #1!
- Cassie tries to get Oliver to believe in witchcraft, and comes to him for help. Apparently Lex had obtained an item before he disappeared that she would like to obtain. She offers to give Oliver his "deepest desire" if he helps her.
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
This episode puts a spin on the "Chlois theory" as a magic spell turns Chloe into Lois... literally.
- Cassidy Freeman (Tess) and Sam Witwer (Davis) do not appear in this episode.
General Spoilers:
- Jimmy will witness Davis Bloom murdering someone. Is he hallucinating? Or does Jimmy know Davis' secret? And whose side will Chloe take when confronted with this news? Source: The Ausiello Files
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
The episode starts with a celebration of Chloe's birthday at the Ace of Clubs.
- Lois is out of town during the period when Chloe is "Lois" so the two won't share any screen time or give us a case of double-vision. (Lois is there for the birthday party, goes off on assignment, and is back by episode's end, though)
- Time in Lois Lane's shoes reveals Clark's feelings for Lois to Chloe.
- A spell is cast on Clark that makes him believe he is a simple reporter with glasses.
Episode #8-12: "Bulletproof"
JOHN JONES IS SHOT — Clark (Tom Welling) discovers John Jones (guest star Phil Morris) was shot while working as a police officer, so Clark dons the uniform and goes undercover to find the culprit. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) confronts Tess (Cassidy Freeman) and tells her Lex isn’t the man she thinks he is. Lana’s shocking news forces Tess to reevaluate her position as the head of Luthorcorp.
Episode #8-14: "Requiem"
We know nothing about how he factors into this story at all, but the character of Steve Lombard - introduced in the 1970's Superman comics - makes an appearance, where he will be played by Ray Galletti. In the comics, Lombard is generally known as a sports reporter, both on television and in the Daily Planet. Thanks to Andy for the tip.
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
From Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello: "In one scene from the ep, Clark stares lovingly into Chloe's eyes, but only because he thinks it's Lois. It's at that moment that Chloe learns how hard Clark has fallen for Lois. Um, awkward!"
- And an addition from TV Guide's Matt Mitovich: "a truly magical magician fulfills Chloe's wish to have Lois' "easy" life ... by transplanting her into her cousin's body. While my frenemy already teased a "longing look" between Clark and "Lois" — and Erica Durance's admirers can obviously count on seeing gobs of their fave actress — Chloe fans should be very pleased with an epiphany their girl reaches at episode's end. By the way, you know Clark gets a wish granted as well, right?"
- Contrary to some speculation, Chloe's "epiphany" does not have anything to do with reviving her journalism career.
- Clark's "wish" of course is to lead a simpler life - he says it but doesn't exactly expect it to be granted, nor is he aware that "Cassie" will make it happen.
- Erica Durance will be playing Chloe-as-Lois.
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
Clark's birthday gift for Chloe is a vintage copy of "Tales of the Weird & Unexplained."
- Jimmy does not attend Chloe's birthday party. However, he does have a conversation with Chloe when she appears to be Lois.
- Clark learns fairly early on that "Lois" is actually Chloe.
Episode #8-15: "Infamous"
Stephen Lobo plays Randall Brady, the Daily Planet's new City Editor who shares a scene with Tori Spelling's Linda Lake.
Episode #8-13: "Power"
ALLISON MACK’S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT — Clark (Tom Welling) finds Tess (Cassidy Freeman) in Lana’s (Kristin Kreuk) ransacked apartment and realizes Lana is missing. Tess tells him Lex is still alive and may have kidnapped Lana and finally reveals the truth about what happened to Lana after she awoke from her Brainiac-induced coma. Meanwhile, Tess breaks into a secret LuthorCorp facility and is shocked at what she discovers. This description originally posted at KryptonSite. Episode #8-16: "Turbulence"
Clark tells Chloe that his recent "brush with celebrity" (in "Infamous") might mean that having a "double identity" isn't such a bad idea after all. The red-and-blue combo might just be saved for those occasions.
- Davis tells Chloe that she can't blame herself for what happened on her wedding day.
Episode #8-18: "Eternal"
Title Revealed. Please do not repost this on other websites without a link to KryptonSite.com. If you cannot place a proper link, don't repost this at all.

- Clark learns that Chloe has been less than honest with him about something.
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
TV Guide's Matt Mitovich has confirmed that it is indeed Zatanna in this episode, and she will be played by an actress named Serinda Swan.
Episode #8-18: "Eternal"
For this episode, young versions of both Lex and Davis Bloome will be cast.
- The four characters featured in this episode are Clark, Chloe, Davis, and Tess.
- Tess and Davis finally have some interaction in this episode.
Episode #8-18: "Eternal"
In one of the flashbacks, young Lex sees Davis (as a child) in one of the rooms of the mansion. When Davis takes off a wool hat that Lex is wearing revealing his baldness, Davis asks him if he is Warrior Angel.

- In the present day, Chloe and Clark discover that Davis has stopped in the same field that Clark landed back in 1989. While there, they find a charred truck.
Episode #8-19: "Stiletto"
Title Posted. Please do not repost this on other webstes without a link to KryptonSite.com.
- The four characters that appear in this episode are Clark, Chloe, Lois, and Jimmy.
- Chloe and Lois finally get some hanging-out "cousin time" until they are attacked by two thugs. Lois takes one of them down with her stiletto heels (hence the title of the episode?) and begins to feel like a bit of a superheroine herself. The other, however, gets away with Chloe's car which has some very sensitive information inside.
- Lois recruits Jimmy for photography help to convince others that "Stiletto" is Metropolis' newest heroine so she can have the exclusive and then bring the Red-Blue Blur out of hiding. When Clark finds out about this, he tells Lois that she's a better reporter than one who would lie to advance her career.
- Lois may end up having contact with the Red-Blue Blur at some point of the episode.
More Spoilers For Smallville Season 8!
The marriage between Chloe and Jimmy might not be long for the world as they face some major challenges upon his return.

Episode #8-14: "Requiem"
As seen in this episode's trailer... Lex Luthor is back, and he may play a big role in what separates Clark and Lana forever.
- Lex is NOT being played by Michael Rosenbaum, but is instead somewhat disfigured and obscured (see the caps above).
Episode #8-18: "Eternal"
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello posted the following spoiler for "Stiletto," even though the harboring actually begins in episode #8-18: "Chloe willingly begins harboring a fugitive whose name rhymes with Broomsday. (Second hint: He turned her wedding day into a low-budget Cloverfield.) And being the dutiful hostess that she is, she even throws in free meals. Wait 'till you see what, er, who she serves for dinner on Day One." (The "feeding" may occur in #8-19, though Sam Witwer does not appear in that one).

That "really exciting thing" we teased for episode #20 or #21 back on January 23? Might actually be saved for the season finale, in addition to anything else they have planned. No word yet on if Lex will be present for the finale, though if this "big thing" is saved for the finale, it still should add to the excitement.

Clark: "Lois, I want you to tell my story .... I'm the Red-Blue Blur." Lois: "I guess I should stop calling you 'Smallville' then." Among the other super scenes and sound bites: Linda sneering, "The only thing people like more than bulding up heroes is tearing them down." A seemingly conflicted Davis saying, "I was sent to this planet to kill Clark." Lois Lane giving [Linda Lake] a serious smackdown. Source: TV Guide Online
Episode #8-20: "Beast"
Two police detectives approach Chloe and want to ask her a few questions about Davis Bloome. They think she is covering for him and hiding what she really knows.
Episode #8-18: "Eternal"
As revealed on the Internet Movie Database, Alex Ferris (seen to your left) will be playing Young Davis Bloome. (Thanks to M. for the tip.) Supernatural fans may remember him as a younger version of Sam Winchester in an episode of that series.
Episode #8-19: "Stiletto"
Juan Riedinger, who previously played "Lowell Wilson" in the Season 6 episode "Progeny," plays a thug named "AJ" who is stopped by Lois's stiletto heels. AJ later goes after Chloe to learn what she knows about the Stiletto.
Episode #8-20: "Beast"
Davis phones Chloe to tell her that some people have tried breaking in to her apartment. He says that he is "holding them here." Chloe implores him to release them, but Davis says that if he does that, they'll go to the police.
- Davis compromises and tells Chloe he'll let them go "after we leave Smallville."
- Jimmy confronts Davis and refers to him as "Cloverfield." Davis backhands him and sends him flying into a wall. After that, Davis threatens Oliver.
- Chloe insists to the detective that she and Davis are "nothing more than friends."
- Later in the episode, it seems that Davis has Oliver held in the Talon basement. (Maybe he's one of those people who broke in?)
Episode #8-17: "Hex"
TV Guide's Matt Mitovich has confirmed that it is indeed Zatanna in this episode, and she will be played by an actress named Serinda Swan.
Episode #8-16: "Turbulence"
TESS SETS A TRAP FOR CLARK — Tess (Cassidy Freeman) invites Clark (Tom Welling) to a press conference in New York but when an explosion rocks the private jet they are on, Clark must figure out how to save them without Tess learning his secret. Episode #8-17: "Hex"
The CW's Official Description (Posted 3/5/09): IT’S FREAKY FRIDAY FOR CHLOE AND LOIS WHEN DC CHARACTER ZATANNA APPEARS — At Chloe’s (Allison Mack) birthday party, a mysterious magician named Zatanna (guest star Serinda Swan) grants Chloe’s wish to be more like Lois (Erica Durance) and switches the two into each other’s bodies. Zatanna searches for her father’s book of spells so she can conjure up his spirit but not before also granting Clark (Tom Welling) his deepest wish. Aaron Ashmore and Justin Hartley also star. Description posted on KryptonSite. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Bryan Q. Miller (#3T7467).
UPDATED 3/5/09: Even though the official description contradicts this, we still are under the impression that it's not a direct body swap - Allison Mack will not be playing Lois.
- Even though a majority of Erica Durance's sceen time is as Chloe-as-Lois, Lois is present for Chloe's birthday party before leaving town on

Episode #8-22: Title Unknown
Michael Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly has revealed what might very well be the "very big thing" we teased for the finale: The Legion will return "in some form." Although we're not quite sure if he's confused and may have meant the Justice League instead. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Ausiello also has revealed that episodes #8-21 and #8-22 will focus on a manhunt for Chloe and Doomsday. Although, kind of interesting that Allison Mack is in #8-21 but Sam Witwer isn't, eh?
- Want to take bets that the finale itself will be called "Doomsday?"
Multiple sources confirm that two pivotal characters will bite the dust in this May's season finale. And in a bit of a departure for Smallville, both deaths will stick. "These characters will die and they will stay dead," maintains my insider. "This is the real deal." [...] Eh, one more little tease won't hurt anyone: One character qualifies as a Smallville vet... the other one, not so much. [...] The Legion will return in the May finale -- in some form. Also, I'm told this season's final two episodes will focus on a manhunt for Chloe and Doomsday. Source: The Ausiello Files
Episode #8-21: "Injustice"
Tess's gang includes characters named Plastique, Leech, Fallout, and Voltage. Plastique is, of course, Bette from the episode of the same name. Leech is not Eric Summers, sadly, but instead is a "cocky skate punk."
- Green Arrow saves Clark from the Leech character, and Clark discovers that Oliver has Lex's Kryptonite ring.
- Chloe seems to be working with the Injustice Gang; for why, we don't know, but she doesn't seem to be acting like herself.
- Tess is determined to find the Traveler.
- Clark confronts Oliver about having the kryptonite ring, and learns that Oliver obtained it after killing Lex (in "Requiem").
- Oliver gives Clark something that may help to vanquish Doomsday.
- Tess also seems determined to stop Doomsday.
- The "very valuable" thing Tess gets a hold of is the Phantom Zone crystal.
Episode #8-22: Title Unknown
The printed edition of Entertainment Weekly contains a HUGE season finale spoiler not posted online by Ausiello: "A long-running character bites the dust." Time to place bets...? Ausiello fleshed this "scoop" out by saying that TWO characters will die in the finale, and unlike before, both deaths will stick. "These characters will die and they will stay dead," his insider tells him. "This is the real deal." The other things Ausiello had to say? "That's not to say producers aren't planning a twist or two, because they are. But I'm told those twists do not involve bringing either character back to life," he says, and he adds that one of the two characters qualifies as a Smallville vet... the other one, not so much.
Episode #8-22: Title Unknown
The "very big thing" we teased... yep, it's more guest heroes. Though we're veering on the side of it being the Justice League rather than the Legion as Ausiello had hinted. Apparently a new set is being constructed to tie in with their return. Don't be surprised if even a character like Kara makes a return, too (though if it doesn't, this is speculation not a spoiler so don't blame KryptonSite for fake spoilers!).

Episode #8-22: "Doomsday"
Turns out only one Legionnaire will be showing up - Ryan Kennedy as Rokk Krinn/Cosmic Boy. Still no word yet on which Justice Leaguers will be in the episode.
Episode #8-20: "Beast"
The Internet Movie Database is listing Alex Ferris (Young Davis Bloome) and Connor Stanhope (Young Lex) as appearing in this episode. To our knowledge this is NOT TRUE. Remember that the IMDB posts user-submitted material and therefore, can provide inaccurate information.
Episode #8-21: "Injustice"
Brendan Fletcher, whose previous credits include an episode of Supernatural, will be playing Parasite.
- Another character from the DC Comics stable will be making her Smallville premiere in this one: Livewire.
Episode #8-22: "Doomsday"
All seven of the actors seen in the opening credits of Smallville will be appearing in this episode.
The report of "everyone returning but Sam Witwer" may be incorrect: At least one other actor or actress seen in Smallville's opening credits will not be back next season.
