A pochi giorni dall’ufficializzazione dell’attrice che la sostituirà nel nono ciclo di episodi, TV Guide annuncia in esclusiva che Jorja Fox tornerà in CSI, la serie che l’ha resa celebre in tutto il mondo. Una fonte ha confermato a Michael Ausiello quanto Carol Mendelsohn aveva già fatto intendere lo scorso ottobre. L’attrice, interprete di Sara Sidle, avrebbe già firmato il contratto in base al quale apparirà nel primo episodio della prossima stagione. Le specifiche dell’accordo sono tenute segrete, ma la fonte assicura che non si tratterà di una “retrospettiva”. Senza anticipare molto, pare che Sara farà ritorno a Las Vegas per confortare gli ex colleghi in seguito a una grave tragedia.

Nelle ultime settimane la CBS sta valutando con attenzione l'attore al quale affidare il ruolo da protagonista nella prossima stagione di CSI, il serial poliziesco per il quale sono stati annunciati grandi cambiamenti in vista, tra l'uscita di scena (non definitiva) di William Petersen e quella già confermata di Joria Fox.

Tra gli attori considerati per il ruolo di "sostituto" di Petersen - anche se non si può parlare di una vera e propria sostituzione, visto che il personaggio di Grissom potrebbe tornare come guest-star - erano stati fatti i nomi di John Malkovich, Kurt Russell e Laurence Fishburne. L'attore di Matrix tuttavia sarebbe la prima scelta dei produttori, con i quali sarebbe in trattativa da giorni e che vorrebbero fargli interpretare un nuovo personaggio che per alcuni aspetti, sembra ricalcato su quello di Dexter, il protagonista della popolare serie della Showtime: si tratta di un collaboratore esterno della scientifica che avrebbe lo stesso profilo genetico di un serial killer, ma non ha mai ceduto ai suoi impulsi omicidi.

Nelle ultime settimane Fishburne ha ultimato le riprese di Days of Wrath, un dramma di Celia Fox nel quale ha affiancato Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Wilmer Valderrama, Amber Valletta e Ricardo Chavira, noto al pubblico televisivo per il suo ruolo di Carlos Solis in Desperate Housewives.

Laurence Fishburne Confirmed


Talk about the worst-kept secret in the TV biz: More than a month after we first brought you news of the talks between Laurence Fishburne and CSI, CBS is now confirming that the Oscar-nominated actor is joining the cast this season as William Petersen's pseudo replacement.

Says CBS: "Fishburne will play a former pathologist who is now working as an itinerant college lecturer, teaching a course in criminalistics. His focus is on understanding criminal behavior, how and why people commit acts of violence -- tendencies he disturbingly sees within himself. In the course of a murder investigation, he comes into contact with the CSI team and ultimately joins the Las Vegas Crime Lab as a Level-1 CSI."

Says me: He's got some funky serial killer DNA!

"CBS asked us, 'Who's at the top of your dream list?' CSI executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar said in a joint statement. "Without hesitation, we said Laurence Fishburne. He is a powerful and intense actor, with an incredible range... If you distill CSI down to its essence, it's a collaboration -- and we are so looking forward to collaborating with Mr. Fishburne. For all of us at CSI, this is truly a dream."

"I am elated and delighted to be joining the cast of CSI," said Fishburne. "I look forward to a wonderful collaboration with the creative and talented team of such a successful and distinguished show."

Fishburne will debut in this season's ninth episode, right around the time Petersen departs.
