Michelle in Los Angeles: Is Dominic Monaghan going to be on Flash Forward or what?
Unfortunately for the fans, executive producer David Goyer would not confirm the rumors that Dominic Monaghan is going to be on Flash Forward. He says he does have a Google Alert set for the show, so he reads all the rumors pouring out: "So much of the speculation is so f--king wrong, it's awesome!" Are they just trying to throw us off the scent?

We continue to be excited about FlashForward (http://www.tvfanatic.com/shows/flash-forward/).
The upcoming ABC drama will focus on a global phenomenon, as everyone on the planet blacks out for two minutes, is catapulted to April 2010 and then returned to their normal, everyday lives.
What the heck happens during this time period? We'll need to tune in and find out.
But the following images, courtesy of FlashForward's opening episode, depict some sort of major catastrophe. They feature a pair of key characters, Mark Benford (http://www.tvfanatic.com/characters/mark-benford/) and Demetri Noah, both of whom work for the FBI.
Click on each photo for acloser look at what they're dealing with on the show:

Last week in Burbank, California, FlashForward (http://www.tvfanatic.com/shows/flash-forward/) was screened for a handful of television critics.
While we can't give away too much about the upcoming ABC [U]series, the following spoilers were approved by showrunners David Goyer and Marc Guggenheim:
FlashForward? Yes, the actual title of the show may be one long word, as it's meant to signify the opposite of "flashback."
What happens on April 29, 2010? We don't know, but this is the date that each character flashforwards to during the worldwife blackout. Said Goyer:
"I think it's natural for the audience to assume that we're just going to vamp until episodes 20 and 21, and then a bunch of s***'s going to happen. We've already finished [shooting] the first seven episodes, and it will become crystal clear by the end of those seven episodes that that's not what we're doing. We're never going to lie to the audience. We're going to play by the rules."
What is the meaning behind 2 minutes and 17 seconds? That's the amount of time that everyone on the planet blacks out for, as they visit April 29 in their visions. There's a reason, which viewers will learn, behind this amount of time.
A worldwide event? Indeed, the blackout is a global phenomenon. In fact, the first 13 episodes will take place in six countries. One of the episodes will focus on Dubai and have the obligatory subtitles.
What about animals? A key animal that is featured in the pilot will show up again. We'll find out if animals also experienced the blackout.
Lou in Scottsdale, Ariz.: What are you hearing about ABC's V?
Forget about hearing. We've seen the pilot, and on a scale of 1 to 10, we give it an 11. V is the best pilot we've seen in, well, forever. Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) is amazing. Scott Wolf (Party of Five) is adorable and charming. And you simply won't be able to take your eyes off Morena Baccarin (Firefly). It goes above and beyond expectations!
Virginia in Miami: Have you heard anything about the new sci-fi show that's supposed to come out in the fall, Flash Forward?
Don't be so quick to judge the show as being sci-fi. Flash Forward executive producer David Goyer says, "It's been interesting to see this show classified as a sci-fi show, and we keep saying, 'Is it? Really?' At one point I read someone's blog who said, 'Well, obviously aliens are the ones that caused the flash forward.' And I said, 'Really?' It's not necessarily even a sci-fi show."

Aghdashloo, who wouldn’t reveal anything about her character, described the painstaking efforts producers have taken to keep the show top-secret before its September 24 premiere. Laughs Aghdashloo, “They didn’t even let me see the pilot in my home.” The actress had to watch it at her agent’s office with someone from ABC present to take the tape back after she was done.

Dominic Monaghan ("Lost") is joining the cast of ABC's exciting new fall drama, "FlashForward," which premieres on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (8:00-9:00pm, ET) on the ABC Television Network.
What would you do if you were given a glimpse of the future? Would you accept what you saw and live life to its fullest, or would you do everything in your power to change your destiny? In "FlashForward," when the world's population is given a glimpse of their future, it forces everyone to come to grips with whether their destinies can be fulfilled or avoided.
Aside from "Lost," Monaghan is also known for his portrayal of Hobbit Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in the "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy. He recently appeared in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and guest starred on "Chuck."
Before his worldwide success, he was known in England for his role in the British television drama, "Hetty Wainthropp Investigations." Monaghan's additional film credits include "Spivs," "The Purifiers," the dark psychological drama "Shooting Livien," and as narrator of the feature film "RINGERS: Lord of the Fans," a documentary that charts the ongoing influence of J.R.R. Tolkien's literary masterpieces. His upcoming feature film projects include MGM's "Pet" and "I Sell the Dead," which was featured at Slamdance this year.
Monaghan was born in Berlin and grew up in Manchester, England. He is an active environmentalist and enjoys the outdoors, wild animals, surfing and football (soccer in the U.S.), particularly Manchester United. In 2008 he combined two of his life's passions - photography and nature - and held his first exhibit, entitled "Happy Accidents."
"FlashForward" stars Joseph Fiennes as Mark Benford, John Cho as Demetri Noh, Jack Davenport as Lloyd Simcoe, Courtney B. Vance as Stan Wedeck, Sonya Walger as Olivia Benford, Brían F. O'Byrne as Aaron Stark, Christine Woods as Janis Hawk, Zachary Knighton as Bryce Varley and Peyton List as Nicole.
The series executive producers are David S. Goyer (co-writer of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight"), Brannon Braga ("24," "Star Trek"), Marc Guggenheim ("Brothers & Sisters," "Eli Stone") and Jessika Borsiczky Goyer ("Revelations"). "FlashForward," which premieres on September 24, 2009, is from ABC Studios.

After weeks of rumors, Lost's Dominic Monaghan has come out of the closet as a new cast member on ABC's fall series, FlashForward. He breaks his silence to TVGuideMagazine.com.
Your character is named Simon. Does he have a last name?
Can't tell you. But I can say he's the joker in the pack. A little hard to predict. He's a snappy dresser, capable and cocky. And he's a man, not a boy.
At Comic-Con, they showed a quick clip of you in a scene in a police station. Can you describe what we saw?
Simon's in cahoots with Jack Davenport's character [Lloyd Simcoe]. Joseph Fiennes' character [Mark Benford] is beating up Jack's character and saying,'Who do you work with? Who's your partner?' and Jack's saying 'I'm not going to tell you that.' And then I walk in and say, 'You know what? I'm not scared of you guys. It's me.' So he's a cocky son-of-a-bitch.
When will that scene air?
I'm not sure. But I think I start on the series around episode six or seven.
What appealed to you about FlashForward?
I read the pilot and didn't think there was anything in particular that I could do in the script. I liked it. But my agent said, [the producers] really want to meet you. They asked what I wanted to do and I said, 'I want to play someone who's the opposite of Charlie,' because that's what I did after I finished "Lord of the Rings." Charlie was the opposite of Merry. It's important for me to continue to show the audience I can't be put in a box.
How many episodes will you be in?
I'm a season regular so I'm in the show for however many episodes they make this season.
You recently had breakfast with Lost producer Damon Lindelof. Were you discussing your return to the show?
Damon and I are friends, and he has some projects he's going to be doing in the future. Lost has got only one year left. That was just a time when we hung out.
Well, would you want to go back if you were invited?
Sure. You can't close doors in this business. It's just not how you do it. I would never say I wouldn't do it.
Do you know the secret behind how Lost ends?
I know some stuff, sure. Coming to the end of the season, Damon's been a little bit freer with some information. But I don't know everything.
Talk more about the possibility of returning to Lost.
I think they closed the door well on my character, and I would only go back based on the door opening in a way that complements my character. There's a few things that they would need to do. Damon and I talk a lot about the romance and legacy that Charlie's left behind. If he were to come back, this would be the final chapter. We would need to jump through a few more hoops before we get there.

WHO: Sonya Walger, Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Courtney B. Vance, Dominic Monaghan, and exec producers Jessika Borsiczky Goyer, David S. Goyer, and Marc Guggenheim.
PREMISE: The world’s population blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, during which they see a glimpse of their future on April 29, 2010. Compelling, suspenseful pilot with two fantastic leads in Walger and Fiennes.
1:01 pm/PST: “By the end of the first season most of the questions in the pilot will be answered,” says e.p. David Goyer. The exception: The “overarching cause of why the blackout happened” won’t be revealed until the end of the series.
1:06 pm: David Goyer is an “enormous fan of Lost” and says the show “proved to me that there could be a place on network television for” dramas with large ensembles featuring different shades of morality. Damon Lindelof’s advice to him: “Tell your story. Stick to your guns.”
1:08 pm: The timeline of Season 1 will go beyond April 29, 2010 (a.k.a. D-day), but it won’t be the season finale. “The signifiance of that date is one of the mysteries of the show,” says e.p. Guggenheim. “And what’s going to happen after April 29 is another mystery of the show.”
1:09 pm: Monaghan, who says FF is “not as sophisticated” and mythology-rich as Lost, signed on without a script or a specific character description. “He took an enormous leap of faith,” says David Goyer. Monaghan’s only request: He wanted to play someone vastly different than Charlie. (Producers remain mum on who exactly he will be playing.)
1:13 pm: Casting notes: Seth MacFarlane (yes, that Seth MacFarlane) and Alex Kingston (or “the woman from ER,” as one reporter referred to her) will continue to recur. Gabrielle Union, meanwhile, kicks off her arc in episode 3.

My Quick Thoughts on the Premiere
I've just watched a rough cut of the Flash Forward pilot thanks to my contact at ABC.
Just to let you know that if you're a Lost fan you should really like this, at the end of the episode I really was wanting to see more, which is a good sign. It has many similarities to Lost.
- Good cast and actors
- Great story
- Good Mystery
- Intertwined Character Stories
- The opening is very like the Pilot of Lost in many respects, although on a smaller scale.
- It also has a Lost feel to the Flashbacks, although in this it's obviously Flash Forwards
It's also seems to be much faster paced than Lost with the story moving along at quite a pace.
Have ABC got another hit on their hands, IMHO yes, it's it another Lost, not quite but it will be interesting to see how it progress and what the ratings are like.
We'll be adding a specific Flash Forward section to the forums shortly.
To sum up... if you're a Lost fan you should definitely check out Flash Forward when it comes out.

Latest Spoilers About Dom's Character Simon
Melody in Orange, Calif.: I'm dying to know more about Dominic Monaghan's character on Flash Forward. What can you tell us?
"Flash Forward producer Marc Guggenheim tells us, "Dominic Monaghan's character, Simon, is the smartest man in the world, and he definitely knows it. He's mysterious, but not just for story reasons. He's a mysterious kind of person. He's someone that's so intelligent that he has a difficult time interfacing with people on a human level, because he's just so much smarter than them. He's an enigmatic figure whom I hope you'll want to get to know over the course of the first season."

National Post Article
Every so often, a new TV show comes along that's so eye-filling, so visually startling and so emotionally gripping that it feels like a tectonic shift may be about to occur in the popular culture.
ABC saved the best for last, unveiling its pilot episode of the secretive, big-budget futuristic thriller FlashForward, based on the novel by Canadian Robert J. Sawyer.
In an age when broadcast TV faces across-the-board cost-cutting and scaled-down ambitions, FlashForward represents a throwback to an earlier age. Not since the pilot episode of Lost has a single hour of network TV looked -- or felt -- more like a feature film.
FlashForward, about a two-minute, 17-second blackout that affects every person on Earth, is full of suspense and unanswered questions. Based on its initial screening, though, it's also full of genuine, human emotion.
FlashForward is more than just a futuristic What If' tale. In a notably buzz-free fall season, it's a reminder of just how powerful the medium of TV can be, how it can move a mass audience to tears, laughter and excitement by turns.
FlashForward is, quite simply, the most eye-filling, heart-wrenching pilot episode of a new network drama series since Lost -- and it gives us all hope that this may not be such a bad fall TV season after all.

Gabrielle Union Interview
Gabrielle Union joined the cast of ABC's upcoming sci-fi thriller series FlashForward after the pilot and told us that she'll play a criminal defense attorney engaged to Demetri Noh (John Cho). She said the pairing of her African-American character and Cho's Asian-American character was deliberate.
"The cultural differences with our families, not only blending families in the middle of a recession but blending families that come from different cultures and races and backgrounds, will definitely be explored," Union said in an exclusive interview last week in Pasadena, Calif. "And, I love John."
In the series, based on Robert J. Sawyer's SF novel, everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes 17 seconds, during which time each person has a glimpse of the future and their lives on a specific date: April 29, 2010. The show's characters, played by Joseph Fiennes, Sonya Walger and others, will spend the bulk of the first season figuring out what will come true and whether or not they can alter the predictions. Union said her scenes with Cho focus on their relationship.
"[I've shot] a lot of time with John," She continued. "We have a really good relationship. I'm so glad that they're showing two people of color with, like, a really ... loving and nurturing relationship. I haven't really seen that on TV, and certainly not in an interracial relationship, very loving and sweet in a genuine sort of way." (Major spoilers ahead!)
In the pilot episode, one flash forward saves a character from suicide. Others characters worry that their own futures include a relapse into alcoholism or an end to their marriages. Union's not telling what she sees.
"It's life-affirming, that's for sure," she teased.
Cho's character sees nothing in his flash forward, leading him to believe he doesn't make it to April 29. So far, this has not affected his relationship in early episodes, Union said.
"Well, he has not shared with me his flash forward, so ignorance is bliss at this point," Union said.
Union came to FlashForward because of her previous relationship with ABC: She starred on the short-lived Night Stalker and guested on Ugly Betty, so the network wanted to get back in the Gabrielle Union business.
"They've been incredibly supportive," Union said. "A lot of people give lip service to, 'We want to increase diversity,' and then you just never see any people of color. They actually really mean it. If one thing doesn't work out, they come up with more opportunities. So they're like, 'We want you back in the family,' and by chance, the next day, the Goyers [executive producers Jessika Borsiczky Goyer and David Goyer] called them and they were like, 'Do you think Gabrielle would ever be interested in returning to television?' They're like, 'Funny you should ask. We just talked to her about this.'"
Since FlashForward has a long-term mythology that the creators are guarding closely, it's one of those shows where even the actors don't get information beyond the script they are shooting. That creates a challenging work environment for Union.
"It's more hard that we are given very limited information, to the point where filming a scene, I think I have all the information I need," she said. "We do a take, and they're like, 'Oh, nobody told her.' Then they whisper it in your ear, and I'm like, 'Oh, OK, that changes everything.' So I'm literally getting information on a need-to-have basis. That's more challenging. Literally, they tell me on a need-to-know basis."
FlashForward premieres Sept. 24 on ABC.

Fall Preview 2009: Watch, DVR Or Skip
Watch: FlashForward
You might want to watch and DVR this if you've got the space, because with all the hidden clues you'll want to talk about it immediately and go back and look for hints later on.
DVR: Survivor
This show still keeps on chugging and last season boasted one of the craziest contestants ever. It's worth recording for Probst's dimples and the mayhem alone.
Skip: The Vampire Diaries
There are the books it's based on, True Blood, the Twilight movies and old Buffy DVDs that can sate your appetite for all creatures great and fanged much better than this one.
Watch It Online: Bones, Community, Parks & Recreation
We were disillusioned by last season's Bones finale, so the season pass option is out, especially on the overstuffed Thursday nights. Still, it might be worth giving it another chance the next day online. Community has some laughs and Parks & Rec promises a stronger sophomore season, but the morning after is a totally fine time to see if it delivers. You won't lose any sleep over missing them.

Next 'Lost'? 'FlashForward' series tests the unknown
Source: USAtoday (http://www.usatoday.com/)
BURBANK, Calif. — The FBI agent and his wife's apparent future lover just miss crossing paths in the hospital hallway. They don't meet, but what if they had?
Would it block his wife's path to infidelity? Or would it guarantee it?
The underlying question — can you change your future? — is at the heart of ABC's FlashForward (Sept. 24, 8 ET/PT), among the most-awaited new fall TV series, and one that some are calling the next Lost.
The premise centers on a two-minute, 17-second blackout that strikes the world's population, followed by crashes, deaths and other disasters that result from the global unconsciousness. During the blackout, almost everyone has a vision — a flash-forward — six months ahead, to April 29, 2010. 10 p.m. PT, to be exact. Some are welcome, and some, including the wife's vision of the lover, are not.
The task is to find out what happened and if the flash-forward prophecies will, or must, come to pass.
"We are the only species that thinks about the future," says executive producer David Goyer, whose writing credits include Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. "It's the blessing and curse of being human."
Joseph Fiennes, who plays FBI agent Mark Benford, centers a team assigned to solve the blackout that includes partner Demetri Noh (John Cho); colleague Janis Hawk (Christine Woods); and their boss, Stanford Wedeck (Courtney B. Vance). They and the other characters, including Benford's surgeon wife, Olivia (Sonya Walger), share their visions, but viewers see only bits and pieces at first, leaving twists and turns to be explored.
And "some people lie about their flash-forwards, so it's a little misdirection happening," Vance says. "It leaves the writers enormous latitude to tell stories."
Of fall's new shows, FlashForward most closely fits the definition of the serialized epic, a sweeping tale mixing action, suspense, mystery, romance and melodrama. "It's a buffet," executive producer Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone) says. "To reach the widest audience possible, you need to have that spice. You have to have that wide variety."
The best current example of the big, bold serialized mystery: ABC hit Lost. Fox's 24 incorporates many of those elements, though each season is self-contained. Fox's paranormal Fringe tries to temper its serialized elements, mixing long-term story with shorter, weekly ones. And ABC launches a remake of alien-invasion serial V in November.
The challenging format tends to demand more dedication from viewers, who may not want to make the time commitment, especially when there is no guarantee a show will reach its conclusion. It includes many recent failures, some of them noble, such as The Nine and Jericho, and even critically acclaimed successes Lost and 24 have hit bumps. NBC's Heroes, which tries to balance serialization with stand-alone volumes, was a big early hit but has since slumped.
Quick answers to questions
Goyer and Guggenheim say they are making the show as they want to, but their customized format — many character stories that wrap up in one episode, quick answers to major questions and a simplified but not dumbed-down mythology — also may make it appeal to a broader audience and casual viewers. "It's not that kind of show where if you don't catch it at the beginning you'll be lost," Vance says.
At the same time, more devoted fans will be rewarded with numerous little clues and hidden references. "You'll come across the true genius that is David Goyer, which is these Easter eggs," Fiennes says. "There's so much information that you could certainly go crazy trying to work it all out."
As another viewing incentive, Goyer promises to resolve virtually all questions raised in the pilot by this season's end. "We made the commitment very early on to answer some big questions and have some reveals very early. The audience will be surprised at some of the cards we turn over that early."
ABC has an interest in series that are "something epic in scope but also really emotional," network executive vice president Suzanne Patmore-Gibbs says. Characters must be at the core, she says, whether the serialized program is Lost,Grey's Anatomyor FlashForward.
Goyer likes mixing large and small. "One of the things I like to do is take a big, broad subject matter and see if you can work it through this intimate prism with characters who humanize what would normally be what some would call an E-ticket ride. I think we were able to do that with the Batman movies, and I feel that's what we're doing here."
He and Guggenheim are Lost fans, citing the Emmy-winning hit's groundbreaking nature as one reason they thought ABC would be a good place for their series. ABC hopes Lost fans connect with FlashForward.
"Lost is ending this year and hopefully going out with a bang. There's an audience base that's going to be craving another nuanced experience, and it would be nice to win some of those audience members," Patmore-Gibbs says. But she and others point out large differences between Lost and FlashForward, which was inspired by Robert Sawyer's novel of the same name and in planning before Lost was created. (The TV series veers far from the book, producers say.)
"It's not like we're going to unearth layers and layers that are more sci-fi or layers and layers of mythology. So I think it's easier to access in some ways," Patmore-Gibbs says.
Walger, who has had a recurring role on Lost, considers it "a huge compliment being (mentioned) in the same breath as Lost. (But) I think the similarity begins and ends with big ensemble casts."
FlashForward has a large, diverse ensemble — 11 series regulars, including Lost's Dominic Monaghan, and guest stars from around the world — that opens the door to many individual stories, both professional and personal. To be a TV series rather than a movie, FlashForward had to be about more than blackouts and flash-forwards, says Cho, who also visited the future in this year's Star Trek film.
"We couldn't hang our hats on that big concept. It had to be about relationships and how it affected everyone's lives. That, to me, was the hook," he says.
On the largest soundstage on the Disney studios lot, one usually reserved for feature films, some character stories — and bits of police and medical drama — are intersecting at Olivia's hospital when Mark and his FBI colleagues arrive. She has just saved a series regular who was injured in an attack resulting from their investigation.
"Mark has this guilt, but at the same time he feels vindicated that the clues are paying off," Fiennes says.
The 'what-if?' element
Of FlashForward's many elements, those involved with the series say science fiction may be the least. It also happens to be a genre label that turns off some viewers who might otherwise give a series or movie a try.
The show's science-fiction component is limited to the blackout and flash-forwards, if that, the producers say, with Goyer suggesting the ultimate cause may not even be in the realm of that genre. He describes the look forward as a "what if?" rather than science fiction, akin to Scrooge's glimpse of the future in A Christmas Carol.
While FlashForward's characters see bits of the future, Goyer and Guggenheim know it all, as in how the series ends.
"In a post-Lost world, when you take a pilot to the networks, they ask, 'Do you have any idea where it goes?' " Goyer says. "As a viewer, I would feel frustrated if the show creators don't know where they're going."
They have plotted the series out, a difficult task when it isn't known how long it will run. Goyer says they have loosely planned it for five seasons, could tell it in three, if necessary, or could "accordion it out" to run longer than five. Besides the ending, they say they know how the penultimate season concludes.
"They have had a destination in mind the whole time, knowing how hard it is when you don't," Patmore-Gibbs says. She notes Lost has benefited from having a fixed ending point, though no one suggested FlashForward might follow a similar plan.
The series can expand on a character or story if it breaks out in a big way. In the pilot, Benford encounters a kangaroo on a downtown L.A. street after the blackout. "It was something intended as a grace note. I didn't expect it to get quite the response it has," Goyer says. He and Guggenheim have made sure the Australian interloper will return.
"We've altered stuff along the way, as we've refined and gotten a better handle on things," Guggenheim says. "Something happens in the 11th episode of the show that had been planned for Episode 18, or even later."
But what happens after Season 1's last episode? If FlashForward answers nearly all the questions in the pilot by the season's end, what will be left for next year?
"I hope people ask that," Goyer says. "In some ways, I can't wait to get there. It's going to be more exciting than Season 1."

Hoping to attract a few more fanboys and gals to frosh thriller "FlashForward," ABC has started printing bizarre codes in certain print ads for the show.
When users hold the black-and-white codes up to a webcam, the picture on their computer screen turns into a 3-D ad for "FlashForward," featuring photos from the show. And if clicked, the pics turn into minute-plus clips from the show.
"It appears to play right out of the ad," said Darren Schillace, ABC Entertainment advertising/marketing veep. "Once you watch all the videos, it's a 10-minute experience. In the normal world, you'd never spend 10 minutes with a print ad." Dubbed "augmented reality," the experience was produced by ABC inhouse with help from its Web team.
Ads will appear in publications that target a tech-savvy audience, including Wired, Popular Mechanics and several gaming magazines. Users can also download the ad at the "FlashForward"-related website Jointhemosaic.com.
"We think it's fun and savvy enough for the group of fanboys that are out there," Schillace said.
The nets continue to look at ways to enhance their print ads: CBS, for example, is embedding a paper-thin video player in an ad that will appear in the Sept. 18 issue of Entertainment Weekly.
"FlashForward," which revolves around a mysterious occurrence when the entire world blacks out for a few minutes -- and witnesses the future -- bows Sept. 24. Skein hails from ABC Studios.

Episode 1.01 - No More Good Days - Press Release
EVERYONE ON EARTH BLACKS OUT FOR TWO MINUTES AND SEVENTEEN SECONDS AND SEES A GLIMPSE OF THEIR FUTURE, BUT THEY MUST DECIDE IF THEY WILL ACCEPT THEIR DESTINY OR DO ANYTHING THEY CAN TO CHANGE IT, ON THE PREMIERE OF ABC'S "FLASHFORWARD"
What would you do if you were given a glimpse of the future? Would you accept what you saw and live life to its fullest, or would you do everything in your power to change your destiny? When the world's population is given a glimpse of their future, it forces everyone to come to grips with whether their destinies can be fulfilled or avoided, on the premiere of "FlashForward," THURSDAY,
SEPTEMBER 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (This program will repeat Friday, Sept. 25, from 8:00-9:00 p.m.)
On the season premiere episode, "No More Good Days," it's just another normal day in Los Angeles. FBI agent Mark Benford and his partner, Demetri Noh, are in the middle of a car chase monitored by their boss, Stanford Wedeck, and colleague Janis Hawk; Mark's wife, Dr. Olivia Benford, is in the middle of surgery; Dr. Bryce Varley is weighing a potentially life-ending decision; Mark's friend, Aaron Stark, is working high above the ground on power lines; and Nicole Kirby -- baby-sitter to Mark and Olivia's daughter, Charlie -- is in the throes of passion with her boyfriend when suddenly, and without warning, every person on Earth blacks out for two minutes and seventeen seconds and sees a series of events from their own future, taking place on April 29, 2010 at 10:00 p.m., Pacific Time. For some the future will be joyous and hopeful; for others, shockingly unexpected; and for a few, it simply doesn't seem to exist.
Everyone in the world will eventually begin chronicling what they saw in their flashforwards on a worldwide website -- the Mosaic Collective -- that will further draw people together. And some of the flashforwards just might help Mark and his colleagues piece together the cause of the blackout.
Knowing their fate will alter each person's life in one way or another, and poses the questions: Can destiny be changed? And by changing just one destiny, what effect would that have on those of others?
"FlashForward" stars Joseph Fiennes as Mark Benford, John Cho as Demetri Noh, Jack Davenport as Lloyd Simcoe, Zachary Knighton as Bryce Varley, Peyton List as Nicole Kirby, Dominic Monaghan as Simon, Br’an F. O'Byrne as Aaron Stark, Courtney B. Vance as Stanford Wedeck, Sonya Walger as Olivia Benford and Christine Woods as Janis Hawk.

What Are the 10 Most Anticipated New Fall Shows?
NCIS: Los Angeles, FlashForward, and Glee are the most eagerly anticipated new fall shows, according to TVGuide.com's TV Team research panel.
Fall TV: Scoop on 24 brand-new shows
Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J front NCIS: Los Angeles, a spin-off of the hit CBS procedural, playing special agents assigned to the high-tech Office of Special Projects. The series launched in a two-episode crossover during NCIS' sixth season. Academy Award winner Linda Hunt also stars, and Rocky Carroll's Leon Vance will appear on both NCIS shows.
Joseph Fiennes and Lost's Sonya Walger star in ABC's FlashForward, in which a bizarre event (everyone in the world loses consciousness simultaneously) allows millions of people to briefly see flashes of the future. What do they see? What does it all mean? And should people be worried if they don't have a future? Having so many questions before the show even launches is an excellent way to build buzz.
Check out all the fall tv premiere dates
On the lighter side, Fox's musical dramedy Glee picks up where its spring preview left off. Dominic Monaghan Snippets
Dominic Monaghan made a splash at Comic-Con in San Diego over the summer when it was revealed he would be joining the cast of ABC's upcoming FlashForward, but couldn't say a lot about what he'll be doing. He offered up a wee bit more this week when we visited him on the show's set in Burbank, Calif.
"Yeah, I can't tell you a huge amount," Monaghan (Lost) said. "I play a guy called Simon who is linked through story lines with Jack's [Davenport] character, Lloyd. He's a very smart, intelligent scientist, and we begin the relationship with him under the impression that he knows more than he is giving away."
The trailer suggests Simon may know the reason everyone in the world has blacked out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, during which time they each have a glimpse of their future six months from now.
"He's almost a kind of reveal, in a way," Monaghan says. "Obviously, Joe [Fiennes] and Sonya [Walger] and John [Cho] and Jack kind of are telling the story in the initial episodes, and my character, Simon, is kind of in the wings a little bit, kind of waiting, kind of a reveal.
He'll gradually be trickled in as the show picks up some steam."
For his part, Davenport said that his character, physicist Lloyd Simcoe, is the only one taken from Robert J. Sawyer's novel, on which the show is loosely based. "That's right, he is the only character from the book," Davenport said. "Yes, because obviously there has to be some kind of scientific explanation for all of this, and there's a lot of science in the book, and the character is a scientist."
But is he the same guy?
"He's similar in the sense that his profession is the same, but obviously, what [series co-creator] David [Goyer] has done is extrapolated from the novel in a way that the connections between the characters are much broader and much wider than they are in the novel. You follow multiple storylines in this in the way that, in the novel it's pretty much a single line."
FlashForward debuts Sept. 24 and will air Thursdays at 8 p.m.

FlashForward - Gets Picked up by over 40 more countries
Disney's freshman drama "FlashForward" has been picked up by 10 broadcasters in the Asia Pacific region, covering some 40 countries.
The series toplining Joseph Fiennes and John Cho was acquired by terrestrial broadcasters Seven (Australia), TVB (Hong Kong), Media Prima (Malaysia), TVNZ (New Zealand), MediaCorp. (Singapore), ABS-CBN (Philippines) and by payboxes Fox International Channels (covering Southeat Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan), Zee Cafe (India), OCN (Korea) and Singtel (Singapore).
The series premieres in the U.S. on Sept. 24 on ABC.
In keeping with major U.S. suppliers' recent moves to time the launch of their shows abroad as close to U.S. debut as possible, Disney is working with Seven Down Under to facilitate launch there on Sept. 28 and with MediaCorp. in Singapore to go to air Oct. 4.
In addition, Fox International Channels will begin beaming "FlashForward" on dates staggered around Taiwan and all SE Asian markets, launching first in the Philippines on Star World (Dec. 10).
A catch-up TV service for "FlashForward" within 12 hours of the local telecast will be available in Oz and in Singapore as part of a strategy to ensure the widest audience possible.
No word on the pricing for the series was available, though top-tier U.S. dramas can rake in as much as $1 million per episode from all their terrestrial and pay TV deals combined. Racking up so many deals ahead of U.S. launch -- and ahead of the MIPCOM program sales bazaar in Cannes Oct. 5-9 -- suggests that the show has momentum and is getting decent license fees.
Rob Gilby, senior vp and managing director of Disney's TV unit in the Asia Pacific region, described the series, not surprisingly, as "the buzz show of the new U.S. TV season": "With the show's global themes and relatable characters, our partners have been aggressively marketing 'FlashForward' as a key show in their programming schedule."
To reinforce the importance of the overseas market for "FlashForward," Jessika Borsiczky, one of the executive producers of the show, will be on hand at MIPCOM to talk to other prospective buyers about the plans for the show's evolving story lines.
Earlier in the week, Disney announced deals for the show with free and pay TV broadcasters in 12 territories across Europe and the Middle East.

Sonya Walger Interview
Source: Digital Spy (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/a178049/sonya-walger-flashforward.html)
FlashForward is quite undeniably the most buzzed-about new series this season. With heavy comparisons to Lost, the drama charts what happens when the whole world blacks out for exactly 2 minutes and 17 seconds, during which time they experience 'flash forwards' of their lives six months in the future. The cast is aptly stellar, and includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Lost's Sonya Walger and her former co-star Dominic Monaghan. But could FlashForward really be the next big thing? We called up the show's leading lady to find out more.
What can you tell us about your character, Olivia?
"She's the main woman in the show. My husband is an FBI agent, played by Joseph Fiennes, who is put in charge of working out what happened. She's a trauma surgeon in her own right so she's working at the hospital and dealing with many of the casualties of the event and therefore many of the stories. She had her own flash forward which was very troubling - she sees the end of her marriage. She sees herself with another man; a man she's never met before and she confides that in her husband. She thinks it will help by revealing that information to him, but it ends up making them both feel very unsettled. They have a child, little Charlie, who has also had a flash forward even though she's only seven."
Having worked on both Lost and FlashForward now, what do you make of the comparisons between the shows?
"I think they're only valid in that they're both big ensemble shows with one big concept or premise. But after that, they part ways really quite rapidly. FlashForward is definitely not a sci-fi show. It doesn't have the mythology of Lost. We have one major event that happens that you are asked to buy into. After that, you're dealing with very human ripple effects - how people deal with it and how they come to terms with it. There are six-and-a-half billion people that have blacked out, so that's potentially six-and-a-half billion stories to tell! Believe me, we're not telling all of them. But we're about to start [filming] episode eight and I'm so surprised by how far the ripple has been felt."
Are the FlashForward scripts kept equally as secret?
"These scripts are kept very, very secret. Each script has a watermark on it with your name. My script has my name on every single page, so if it was found in a trash can or on a website, it would have my name on it so it would be directly my fault if that script leaked. We have to hand our scripts in when we're finished with them so that they can shred them! There is very tight security - they hand-deliever my scripts to my house as well. The essence of this show is the element of surprise and the gradual discovery of it, so it would be a tremendous shame if the secrets got out before the show had even launched."
Will your involvement in the final season of Lost affect your role on FlashForward?
"I don't know if I'm in the final season of Lost - no-one tells me anything! My hunch is that you'll see Penny again because I can't believe that they would just never refer to her again, but I have no idea. Luckily, they're both ABC shows, so it's in-house. I'm not being traded across party lines!"
When Lost ends, do you think fans of the show will jump on-board FlashForward?
"I hope so. I think Lost is like losing a friend or a relative or someone. You can't replace it with another one. Lost holds a very special place in people's hearts and I wouldn't presume to say that FlashForward will replace Lost. I think it provides a lot of the same adrenaline and fascination and entertainment. It will help ease the pain of losing Lost! I think it will appeal to the very same audience."
Do you think that's why yourself and Dominic Monaghan were brought on board?
"It's hard to say. On the one hand, I hope I was chosen because I was the best person for the part. I don't think it hurt that I was on Lost and people liked my character and people want to see what else Penny is up to. And I think the same is true for Dominic. It doesn't hurt that either of us were on Lost and it doens't help that John Cho was on Star Trek. It doesn't hurt that Joe Fiennes has done many great films! Any time you cast an actor, you don't just cast that actor; you cast all their other performances as well. Nobody assumes that just because I'm in it, the whole of the Lost audience will watch it."
How has it been working with Dominic again? How do your characters come across each other?
"It's funny because I'm actually filming with Dominic for the first time - our paths never crossed. We had one scene together where I was on a small TV screen, so we actually shot that apart - he was in Hawai'i and I was in Broadway doing Frost/Nixon. We never actually met until he came to do FlashForward. This far, we still haven't done a scene together! I met him on the set and we've hung out at some photoshoots but I've yet to do a scene with him. He seems great. I'm sure he's a lovely guy!"
Did Robert J. Sawyer help with the show?
"His book was where the idea for the show came from, so [executive producer] David Goyer approached Sawyer to buy the rights and that happened very smoothly, but no - he didn't help. He came to the set to visit and he loved the pilot, loved the script. He's seen the pilot and he loved it. I gather if all goes well, Goyer has asked him if he'd like to write an episode of the show - assuming we go past our initial pickup of 13..."
Is the show quite similar to the book?
"It's very, very different. It's a good, fun book and it's a great science fiction read but it's not the show at all. They've taken the premise from the book to make the show but in the book, people have flash forwards that are much different - it can be like 60 years, not the six months it is in our show. You could read the book and have a good time but you wouldn't find out much about our show."
April 20 has been mentioned as a key date for the show. Can we expect a big, climactic episode on that date?
"I would imagine so, yes. But I have no idea! You'll be fed stuff throughout the season - I think that's what's interesting about the show. You don't have to wait five seasons to find out what's going on! There will be mysteries solved all the way through. You'll be surprised how quickly you get information about who's doing what. It's a very gratifying show."
FlashForward with G-Man: 1x01 "No More Good Days"
Well hi there! While I am more accustomed to writing movie reviews, I figured I’d give this a shot as I plan on watching FlashForward. The concept alone has me very intrigued and from the outset, it looks like it might be a pretty neat little show.
Before I get started, I want to clear a few things up:
1) This is NOT an authoritative perspective on FlashForward. I am simply a member of the television-viewing masses that has been afforded a voice on this matter. My thoughts and opinions hold no more weight and credibility than anyone else’s.
2) I refuse to compare this show to Lost. A lot of that has been going leading up to the premiere and there are tons of Lost fans out there already comparing and contrasting the two. To me, this makes no sense. FlashForward is not a spin-off of Lost, so there is nothing but the larger sci-fi/fantasy/mystery genre to hold them both next to. I aim to examine the show based on its own merits and faults. Comparing it to Lost (or any other show for that matter) is a waste of time and will only leave you frustrated.
3) I have not read the book that this series is loosely based on but I know a little bit about it.
4) At this point, I’m going to avoid any theorizing for two reasons. First, it’s still so early in the story and there hasn’t been enough information dispensed to make any kind of guesses as to what’s going on. Second, theorizing spawns favoritism. Once someone cooks up a good theory, people get attached to it and are then disappointed when the story doesn’t take that direction. I’m not going to theorize because I don’t want to disappoint myself.

Casting News
ABC's hit new show, FlashForward, has cast a new character to butt heads with series star Joseph Fiennes' Mark Benford. Actor Michael Ealy, 36, will begin his recurring role in the 10th episode as this new thorn in Detective Benford's side.
Fans may recognize Michael from his regular role on the Showtime series Sleeper Cell, which also starred FlashForward's Sonya Walger.

Janie in Connecticut: What's the latest you've heard about my new favorite show, FlashForward?
When we caught up with Dominic Monaghan the other night, he told us they are shooting episode 11 now and there are still many questions to be answered. "I think we're just gonna go a little further and further down the rabbit hole, and then as we get closer and closer to the finale, things will start to come back together," he told us. "I like playing characters that are messed up. And that seems to be where we're going with Simon." P.S.: We saw a smidge of Dom last week, but insiders tell me his character's first big episode is ep six, airing Oct. 29.

Latest from David Goyer
FlashForward's executive producer David Goyer has revealed that several new characters will be introduced later this season.
Speaking to MTV News, Goyer confirmed that the Somalian boy from episode three will be making a return as an adult.
"We have already written that character as an adult," he said. "We're hoping to have a certain actor play him. We haven't nailed it down yet, but we're crossing our fingers."
Michael Ealy will also be arriving in the role of Miles Fogel, who Goyer said will be a "new thorn in Detective Benford's side". The character is expected to become a series regular from episode ten.
The ninth episode, titled 'Believe', will explore Bryce's vision and introduce viewers to the Japanese woman he saw.
"That's the subject of episode nine, which is almost entirely his episode. We introduce another of our cast members in that one - her name is Keiko. She's from Japan, and I can't say too much more about who she is, but she's involved in Bryce's story."

TV Guide Magazine Interview
Joseph Fiennes (FBI Agent Mark Benford):
Will Olivia’s [Sonya Walger] relationship with Lloyd [Jack Davenport] cause Mark to start drinking again or is it Mark’s drinking problem that ultimately brings Olivia and Lloyd together?
Jessika Borsiczky What we’ve seen so far in the Mark-Olivia-Lloyd love triangle isn’t all it appears to be. The problems began when Mark started judging Olivia before getting all the evidence. On November 19, Mark is going to find out someone has texted Olivia about his drinking, and that makes him see things differently. He goes on a journey to see who sent the text. Things also get emotional. Finally, I can say that Mark gets an opportunity to revisit his flash with more clarity later this season. We didn’t see the entire 2 minutes and 17 seconds, but it will get rounded out. That further explains his downward spiral and the reactions it causes.
David S. Goyer There may be another reason why Mark drinks that has nothing to do with Lloyd or Olivia. And it may be a much more interesting reason. But we won’t explore that until the second half of the season.
Dominic Monaghan (Simon Campos):
Is Simon a good or bad guy?
Goyer Simon is gray for now, but we learn exactly what he knows on December 3. What’s important is how he and Lloyd differ on their philosophies regarding the flash-forwards. Simon believes we can’t change our destiny. Lloyd believes people need to take responsibility for whatever’s pre-determined. Is Simon bad? People on this show who are heroic will do bad things and people who are bad do heroic things. Let’s leave it at that. Oh, and I’ll tell you that Simon has new information about Somalia and the crow die-off there.
Borsiczky Someone takes responsibility for the flash-forwards on December 3 and we’ll learn much more about what caused them.
John Cho (FBI Agent DemEtri Noh):
My character didn’t experience a flash-forward. What’s up with that? Will I still have a job by the end of the season?
Borsiczky There’s a huge reveal on December 3 about Demetri’s fate. We get crucial information about his murder that radically alters our perspective of his future. We’ve seen already that the future can be changed, but Demetri’s question will be: How difficult is it to change it, and if one person’s future changes, does everyone’s change?
Courtney B. Vance (FBI Director Stanford Wedeck):
Who’s the guy walking around the Detroit stadium when everyone else on Earth was blacked out?
Goyer We can’t answer that yet! Just like we aren’t ready to say what the kangaroo is about or what clues on Mark’s [bulletin] board, like Red Panda Resources and D. Gibbons, mean. But all that will be revealed. We start explaining Red Panda in January. And we will be returning to the stadium between Episodes 15 and 24 more than once. I’ll leave you with some trivia: The reason the stadium is in Detroit is purely because I’m from Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is nearby, and I thought it would be fun to have something in or around where I lived. Also, the name D. Gibbons is an homage to Dave Gibbons, one of the cocreators of the Watchmen comic books.
Fiennes:
Where did you get the doll in the photo on the board?
Goyer We auditioned about 40 or 50 dolls. We took them all out to the parking lot at ABC in Burbank one day and used a blowtorch to see which heads melted in the coolest ways. Then I picked the best ones. As for the rest of the board, this won’t necessarily explain the mystery, but it’s kinda interesting: There are two photographs of men on the board. One is of a man in glasses [whose] name is Hugh Everett. He was a famous quantum physicist who came up with the concept of parallel worlds. The other man is his son in real life, who made a documentary about his dad. He also happens to be the front man for the band called Eels. We just think they’re an interesting family.
Cho:
We’ve been taking bets on this around the set. Who knocked up Janis Hawk [the FBI agent played by Christine Woods]?
Goyer There’s more than one potential candidate. In fact, there’s still debate among the show’s writers on this question. What’s been really interesting is the reaction we’ve gotten to Janis being a pregnant lesbian. A lot of fans are in favor of it and a lot are not. A few totally can’t comprehend it. They don’t know how she can have a baby if she’s also gay. People! She’s not infertile! She’s a lesbian!

FlashForward and V - March Returns
Some ABC viewers just had a flashback.
The network ran a promo at the end of Thursday's "FlashForward" letting viewers know the show would return in March -- March 4, to be exact. It's similar to the announcement made at the end of "V," saying the show would return that same month. But while the "V" message met with relief (it's coming back!), the "FlashForward" push is being met with dismay (that long?), especially since fans expected the show to continue in January.
ABC wants to get the show out of the way of the Winter Olympics and air the show straight through without repeats. The network also is setting a firm date for the return of "V" -- March 30.
David Goyer Interview with EW
Fans of ABC’s FlashForward are buzzing about last night’s episode—and especially what they learned about the about the immediate future of the series after the episode was over. The sci-fi drama’s fall finale was an eventful affair, and you can read my recap of it in our TV Watch section. But the meaty three-minute tease of the second half of the season was pretty provocative, too. For starters, there was the intimation that another global blackout event is looming. And then there was the revelation that the final 13 episodes of FlashForward’s first season won’t be returning in January as previously announced but rather in March. What happened? We caught up with FF co-creator and showrunner David S. Goyer (who also co-wrote Batman Begins and wrote the story for The Dark Knight) and asked him.
EW: So… FlashForward isn’t coming back until March.
DAVID GOYER: Why?
Yes! Why?
The answer is simple. We originally planned to come back in January, but about three weeks ago we sat down with ABC scheduling and looked at what our programming schedule would be like. And I think on serialized show like 24, Lost, and Prison Break the most important thing is to air consecutive episodes without repeats or preemptions. To be brutally honest, our programming schedule in January was going to be awful. We were going to be off for four or five weeks [through December and into January], then back on for two weeks, then off for two weeks because of the Olympics, then back on four weeks, off for two weeks again, back on three, off for two again… Our first 10 episodes had one preemption; our last 13-episode arc was going to have four. I just think when we saw that, the studio and the network and all the producers looked at each other and said, “This is crazy.” We’d rather bite the bullet, come back in March, and air all 13 episodes consecutively without preemptions.
The overnight ratings for the show have steadily declined since the premiere. [FlashForward has dropped from a little over 12 million viewers to a little over 7 million viewers over the course of 10 episodes. The numbers don't reflect DVR usage, which is substantial for FlashForward.] If the ratings hadn’t been dropping do you think ABC would have made this move?
I don’t honestly know. I just know that when we first heard about this possibility three or four weeks ago, we were all looking ahead to the series of preemptions ahead of us and were feeling very concerned. One of our staff writers is from Prison Break, and he made a comment that every time their show had been preempted, it would get knocked down [in the ratings] and they’d have to build back up, and after being preempted, they’d get knocked down again and have to build up yet again—they felt like they were continually treading water. … I know for me, as an audience member, I feel incredibly annoyed when I’m watching a serialized show and have to deal with preemptions. … Our production schedule hasn’t changed at all. We’re shooting episode 14 now; we’re prepping episodes 15 and 16. We’ll have all our episodes written and most of them shot by the time we come back in March.
We recently reported that you had to shut down production to work on some scripts…
Which I was actually a bit bemused by, commenting on it as if it was a big deal.
It wasn’t?
No! We only shut down for one week. And I’ll tell you why: we were given the reins to speed up the storytelling, and we had broken episodes 15 and 16 and done some very major moves in those episodes. When the network and the studio saw the scripts for those everyone looked at each other and said “Let’s move those up to 13 and 14.” So we swapped those out and moved episodes 15 and 16 into the 13 and 14 position. In the process, we needed to take a week to re-prep.
How does the new 13-week scheduling strategy for the second half of the season affect the writing of the show?
I know we’re all as writers breathing a sigh of relief. We feel like we have all the chess pieces on the board and now we can just knock the dominos over and watch them fall in interesting ways. I kind of feel like we did when we got into working on The Dark Knight after finishing Batman Begins: we got done with the origin story, we don’t have to do that anymore, we can now hit the ground running.
So, is there really going to be another global blackout event? [SPOILER ALERT for the answer that follows!]
That may be. Look, I wish next week we could air episode 11 and then episode 12, because our biggest reveals of the season so far happen in those two episodes. On one hand, I wish those could air right now. On the other hand, they’re pretty strong episodes to be coming back to. I can give you some teases. We’ve only seen part of Mark’s flash-forward so far, but when we come back in episode 11, you’ll see all of it. And you’re also going to find out pretty early on when we come back who Suspect Zero is.
Based on your Season 1 experience, do you think Season 2 will be scheduled differently?
Yes. Definitely. But look: these decisions are not all on my shoulders. Programming is a very complicated process with a lot of influences. I wish I could say it was all me and do whatever I want.

Goyer and Borsiczky talk about Demetri's Doom
In a recent issue of TV Guide, the cast of FlashForward had the opportunity to ask FlashForward creators David Goyer and Jessika Borsiczky (who also happen ot be married) the questions that they have been dying to ask about their own characters and the future of the show. Beware, some of these tidbits could be considered spoilers.
When the time came for John Cho to ask his question, Goyer and Borsiczky were far from surprised to hear Cho ask whether he would have a job at the end of the season. John Cho's character, Demetri Noh, didn't have a flash forward, and therefore believes that by April 29th, he is already dead.
To even further complicate matters, Nhadra Udaya has informed Demetri that he will be murdered on the ides of March (or March 15th, for those of you who don't know your Shakespeare), and that a familiar face (namely Mark Benford) will be his murderer.
John Cho just wanted to know whether he would be out of a job by the end of the season. Of course, Goyer and Borsiczky weren't about to let such a big spoiler slide this early in the game, so instead they danced around the fact that Mark was Demetri's supposed murderer.
Looks like we'll all have to tune in when FlashForward returns on March 4th to find out the answers to our questions.

David Goyer Promises Answers
We have to wait until March for ABC's FlashForward to return, but once it does, expect answers to everything. That's what series co-creator and executive producer David Goyer promises. What's first? (Spoilers ahead!)
"Who Suspect Zero is will be our first episode back," Goyer said in a group interview on Friday on the show's set in Burbank, Calif. "Even in that first episode back, we answer a ton of big questions, and pretty much every episode afterwards, I can't think of a question we don't answer by the end of the season."
Actually, the big reveals start even before the show's March 18 return. A recap show will air before the 18th to summarize the first half of the season, but it will include new footage.
FlashForward comes back March 18 and will air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

David Goyer Steps Down As Showrunner
"FlashForward" is getting another new showrunner.
Co-creator David Goyer is stepping down from his role running the series, sources confirmed.
The "Dark Knight" scribe will still be "involved" with the show, but will focus on feature films and directing.
Goyer had limited hands-on TV series experience, so "Eli Stone" co-creator Mark Guggenheim was brought on as showrunner after his "FlashForward" pilot received a pickup to help with the launch of the mystery drama based on Robert Sawyer's novel.
After the show creative struggled out of the gate, Guggenheim stepped down as showrunner in October and was replaced by Goyer.
Who will serve as the new showrunner for "FlashForward" is not yet clear, yet the position is becoming a bit like drumming for Spinal Tap.
"FlashForward" is set to return March 18.

ABC cuts down Flash Forward order for third time /announces new showrunners
ABC Studios had found some new chiefs for "FlashForward."
Jessika Borsiczky, Lisa Zwerling and Tim Lea will serve as showrunners for the ABC drama, the network confirmed Wednesday. They replace David Goyer, who last week said he was stepping aside as showrunner (but staying on as executive producer).
Meanwhile, ABC had decided to hit rewind on its episode order for "FlashForward."
The network has quietly trimmed to 22 the number of episodes of the first-year ABC Studios drama it plans to produce this season. It had mostly recently planned on making 23 hours of the show.
Per ABC insiders, once the network decided to push back the show's return until March 18 -- getting out of the way of the "American Idol" monster -- ABC decided it didn't need all 23 episodes

FlashForward returns to very low ratings
Despite limited competition thanks to repeats on FOX and The CW the much hyped 2 hour return of “FlashForward” failed miserably From 8PM-10PM, the show averaged a mere 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with 6.55 million viewers. In third for both hours (only ahead of repeats) next week there will be more competition and Flashforward is likely dead. Good news for V fans though i doubt ABC would cancel both shows.
Cutting Out the Middleman: "Revelation Zero" - Recap by Robz888
Welcome back, FlashForward fans! It's been a long wait, but "Revelation Zero" was worth it. I know plenty of people watched the first few episodes and just didn't enjoy it, but the show has really improved in the last couple episodes, and I would urge you to give it another try. This most recent episode once again demonstrated what enormous potential FlashForward has.
By the way, my name is Robby, "Robz888". Some of you might know me from my Lost recaps over at darkufo.blogspot.com. But in addition to being a Lost fanatic, I'm also a huge FlashForward fan. So join me here at Spoiler TV every week for a recap of the latest episode. I'll just add that with FlashForward, I'm particularly interested in the practical mechanics of seeing the future. I refer to the experience of the characters seeing themselves in the future as "flash forwards", the actual incident when the flashes happened as "the blackout", and the time in the future (April 29) that our characters were able to see as the "flashforward window".
Example of what I care about: Why wasn't every person in the world thinking the same thing in their flash forwards - "hey, cool, this is it!" They know when it's going to happen, and they know what's going to happen. It would probably feel like very, very strong deja vu. And that awareness of being whatever each person saw should have been what most were thinking about at that time on April 29. This issue is one of the things that leads me to agree with Lloyd Simcoe that the flash forwards are depicting a possible reality rather than a definite one.
Just some food for thought. On to the episode!
Letting the Animal Out: "Blowback" - Recap by Robz888
GOING TO WAR
This episode of FlashForward began with a flashback. Actually, even before the flashback start, the written words "Happy Birthday" were on the screen for a brief second. I assume this is referencing Jericho Man's daughter's birthday party, which occurred during the episode. Aaron gives Jericho Man a very threatening birthday present, so I suppose that this quick message at the start of the episode was an instruction to the viewers to prepare for all out war.
(Some investigating has now revealed to me the existence of a "title image" at the beginning of each episode that relates to the episode - the "Happy Birthday" message was this week's title image. I've noticed them before but not consistently. I'll be on the lookout now.)
Via flashbacks, we learn that Aaron went to prison for his involvement in a violent bar fight. Alcohol is Aaron's eternal enemy, preventing him from having the kind of relationship with his daughter he really wants. He's willing to do anything, though, to keep her safe. And as most people had probably suspected, Tracy's supposed death didn't do wonders for Aaron's alcohol problem.
Back in the present, Aaron counsels his daughter about her drinking and tries to keep her safe. Unfortunately, he lets slip her existence and whereabouts to Mike, who's actually working for Jericho to help the evil military contractor track down Tracy, a witness to Jericho massacring civilians. Jericho executive James Erskine orders her kidnapped. Side note: why didn't the assailants turn off the boiling water? Aaron might not have suspected foul play if they had just done a 5 second room check. Oh well (still not as incompetent as the FBI on FlashForward).
Fortunately, Brian O'Byrne does a terrific job in his role as Aaron. His speech to Mike in the car about how prison makes a person capable, and being in the real world means keeping that person in a cage, was nicely dark and edgy. Similarly, I enjoyed the voice mail he left for Mark saying basically, "Good luck with that whole Blackout thing. I'm going to bash some heads together and get Tracy back."
This raises an interesting point, though. Will Aaron's story connect to the main plot of how, why and who caused the Blackout? Aaron, Bryce and Nicole, Janis, and Demetri are really the only characters with flash forward mysteries outside of the main plot. Bryce, Nicole and Janis all have stories that don't really need to become part of the main plot, Demetri's murder mystery probably is part of the main plot (with the Alda Hertzog and Nhadra Udaya connections), so that only leaves Aaron. Having a global military conspiracy that's completely distinct from a global science/terrorist conspiracy seems somewhat far-fetched, so I'd be willing to bet Jericho will figure in to the Blackout somehow.
But how? Well, Jericho is a military contractor. Perhaps it provides defense services for some of the people involved in the conspiracy - Dyson Frost, Flosso's bosses, Alda or Udaya. Any of these four entities could turn out to be working together or even the same entity, mind you. Frost and Udaya, at least, are acquainted.
Q.E.D.
I'm glad I pointed out the possible significances of Q.E.D. in my recap last week, as Mark and Lloyd spent a few minutes discussing this very thing. In the end, Lloyd deduced that it was simply referring to part of an equation that he and Simon were trying to solve the night of the Blackout. Undoubtedly, this equation will have to do with causing or preventing the next Blackout.
And Lloyd wrote part of it in lipstick on the mirror in Mark and Olivia's bedroom. Awkward.
As for the rest of the conversation, why would Lloyd pretend not to know the true identity of D. Gibbons? We're supposed to believe that he was afraid there would be reprisals against his son, Dylan, if he said anything, but what if he had other reasons? Maybe Dyson Frost didn't steal his ideas - maybe they collaborated, or something. Perhaps, like Simon, Lloyd is afraid of revealing too much of his involvement. Then again, he did attempt to confess his involvement to the entire world, so perhaps I'm giving him an unfairly hard time.
Dyson Frost, by the way, is a terrific name. I am assuming that "Dyson" was chosen for its scientific relevance. Dyson spheres are an aspect of science fiction inspired by the ideas of a physicist named Freeman Dyson. Essentially, a Dyson sphere is a theoretical shell that could be built around a star in order to harness the star's energy. Dyson was coming up with ideas for how to supply mankind with the vast amounts of energy it will need in the future. This of course relates back to Flosso and Lloyd's conversation last episode about generating massive amounts of energy.
When D. Gibbons's real name is taken in its entirety, we get some interesting results. Suppose there was a Dyson sphere powerful enough to completely deplete a star of its energy - to proverbially suck it dry? The star would then go cold. So "Dyson" would be followed by cold, or "Frost". And this would cause the star to "black out". So Dyson + Frost = Blackout. This isn't exactly shocking information, but I like how apt the name is.
At this point, we don't know very much about Dyson Frost, except that he steals other people's scientific work and faked his own death. I wonder if perhaps he stole Simon's ideas in order to create the Somalia incident? I thought I remember hearing that Simon didn't have the idea until after the Somalia incident occurred, but it seemed like he contradicted that statement this episode.
We know that Dyson is involved with both Flosso (because he gave Simon instructions in cooperation with Flosso right before and during the Blackout) and Nhadra (because he was hiding at her place). Perhaps Dyson is the brains, Nhadra is the leader, and Flosso was the coordinator?
FOIA FAUX PAS
If only it were really so easy to learn the government's secrets. Alas, this is not the case. I know from personal experience: I've filed Freedom of Information Act requests before. What Zoey did wouldn't work at all. First off, the government doesn't have to comply if it's a matter of national security or foreign policy. So that would shut Zoey down right there. Second, under no circumstances could she get access to Alda Hertzog this way. It would be really great for us journalists if we could gain access to terrorists and investigate classified security files by waving FOIA requests in the faces of FBI directors, but this is not the world in which we leave.
And though more plausible, I was also bothered by Zoey's brief visit to Mark's house. Obviously, Mark doesn't want to kill Demetri, and wouldn't under any realistic scenario we could imagine up to this point. I assume the reason for the conversation was to bring up the possibility of a leak inside the FBI office. Now there has to be one. The question is who?
1) MARK: It can't be Mark.
2) JANIS: The baby subplot really rules Janis out as an evil character.
3) VOGEL: He's too new and it would be too obvious because of his bad attitude.
4) SIMON: Simon probably is leaking information but I don't know if he has been in the office long enough to be considered THE leak, or if he even has access to important information.
5) WEDECK: This might actually explain some of Wedeck's less competent moments, but ultimately doesn't make much sense.
6) VREEDE: He's been missing for too many episodes for it to be him.
7) DEMETRI: Who else could it be? Unless there is no leak, or the leak turns out to be someone completely new, Demetri is the most likely option, if only because that would give Mark a reason to shoot him. I have no idea why he would be leaking information, though.
Perhaps Demetri is secretly leaking information to Nharda, or Alda, or someone else, in exchange for information about his death. It would almost be a perfect plan. They could kill him prior to the flash forward window occurrence, guaranteeing that he wouldn't have a flash forward. Then they could lie to him about who did it in order to control him and use him for information. That's a pretty ingenious way to infiltrate the FBI.
Somebody is definitely screwing with Demetri, because when he goes to recover the gun from evidence storage, it's gone. If there is a leak, and it's not Demetri, this person might be responsible.
THE PANDA EXPRESS
I'm excited to see Demetri, Janis, Vogel and Simon in Somalia. I like Demetri quite a bit, Simon is fantastic, Janis has really grown on me (I actually started to tear up when she was talking about her future baby this episode during what is becoming a really touching subplot), and Vogel has definite potential. If the name of the organization they are impersonating is any indication, the mission should be difficult. A red panda bear would be fairly conspicuous.
Also, I'm hoping that Mark finally has an important conversation with his daughter about the man she knows as D. Gibbons.
Until next week,
