Intervista a Kristoffer Polaha:

1)Sei stato scritturato per qualche altro progetto come film o serie televisive?
Da “Life Unexpected”ho lavorato ad una serie tv chiamata “Romantically Challenged” e sono in attesa di tornare a “Mad Men” quest'estate.

2.Nella vita reale hai lo stesso carattere di Baze?
Sono come Baze in molti modi diversi, ma sono anche molto diverso da lui. Nella vita reale ho una moglie bellissima e due figli meravigliosi. Ho accettato la mia età adulta. Baze no.

3.Avresti preferito assumere un altro ruolo in Life Unexpected?
Per niente. Baze è l'unico personaggio che mi si addice. Mi sono innamorato della parte appena ho letto il copione del pilota.

4.Quest'esperienza ti ha permesso di imparare di più su come essere padre?
In un certo senso mi ha mostrato cos'ho fatto bene, inoltre mi ha mostrato come sarebbe essere padre di una figlia adolescente.

5.Qual è la caratteristica che ti piace di più di Baze?
E' divertente. Baze è un ragazzo da “divertimento” ed ha molto da dare. E' il cattivo ragazzo dal cuore d'oro, quindi le sue intenzioni sono sempre buone, ma le sue messe in atto sono un po' approssimative.

6.In quale scena ti saresti comportato come Baze?
Tantissime!! Quella in cui Lux ha il mio stesso coraggio.

7.Qual è il tuo rapporto con gli altri attori sul set? Tu e Kerr litigate nella realtà?
Il set è un posto gioioso in cui lavorare. Shiri è incantevole, grande professionista; è divertente lavorare con Kerr, Brittany è fantastica, abbiamo un grande legame sia sul set che nella vita. Austin Basis è il mio amico – io lo chiamo il Math metodico; e Reggie Austin è un gran bravo ragazzo, siamo tutti amici nella vita reale. E la creatrice dello show, Liz Tigelaar, è anche una persona magnifica e una mia amica anche nella vita reale.

8.Che avresti voluto fare da grande quando eri un bambino?
Divertente, volevo fare l'attore sin da quando ero un ragazzino.

9.Sei veramente un fan degli Starship? E che musica ti piace?
Haha. No, non sono fan degli Starship. Ascolto gli U2, Coldpaly, Willie Nelson, Peter Gabriel, Miles Davis, ed i Rolling Stones. E molti altri.

10.Segui qualche serie tv? Quali sono le tue preferite e a quali vorresti partecipare?
Seguo "Californication," "24," "Gossip Girl," "Modern Family," "Friday Night Lights" and "Life Unexpected". Mi piacerebbe recitare in una di queste e lo faccio

11.Sei mai stato in Italia? Ti piace?
Sono stato in Italia. Roma, Venezia, Firenze e le Cinque Terre. Penso che sia uno dei posti più belli del mondo. Quando ero lì fui morso dietro il collo da una medusa e questa donna gentile mi portò in un negozio del posto per prendermi qualche medicinale. Di tutti i posti che ho visitato, gli italiani sono i migliori! Così calorosi e gentili. Ho avuto un episodio anche a Roma. Ero lì quando l'Italia vinse i mondiali di calcio e l'intera città esplose nei festeggiamenti.

12. Sei fiducioso per una seconda stagione di LUX?
Sì, lo sono. Scopriremo nei prossimi giorni quale sia la risposta finale.

13. Quanto è diverso il modo in cui ti comporti con i tuoi figli da quello di Baze con Lux?
Sono molto diverso con i miei bambini da com’è Baze, ma lui ha lo stesso tipo di amore e lealtà, che ho io. Quando Baze scopre di avere una figlia si innamora immediatamente di lei.

14. Quali origini ha il tuo nome?
Polaha è un nome di origine slovacca.

15. Mi piacerebbe sapere se guardi altri Tv shows e, in particolare, quale della CW.
Sì, mi piace guardare "Gossip Girl".

16. Come ci si sente ad avere sul set uno dei ghostfacers di Supernatural?
Haha, Austin Basis è un ghostfacer e non smetterò mai di sentirlo. Ghostfacer qua Ghostfacer là. Io sono tipo, "Sì, ma adesso sei un “Life Unexpecteder”, Fratello!"

17. Come è stata la prima volta che sei stato su un set? Come ti sei sentito?
E 'stato magico, mi sentivo davvero alla grande. Come se il tempo si fosse fermato.

18. Quando hai deciso di voler fare l'attore?
A 14 anni ho fatto una recita scolastica chiamata "A Streetcar Named Desire" e mi sono innamorato della recitazione. Ho capito in un attimo che sarei stato un attore nella mia vita.

19. Vorresti fare qualcosa di diverso oltre all’attore, sempre nel campo del cinema? forse il regista o lo sceneggiatore?
Sì, mi piacerebbe dirigere film. Ho scritto una sceneggiatura di due fratelli e mi piacerebbe dirigere questo.

20. Hai qualcosa in comune con Baze, il tuo personaggio in lux?
Ho molto in comune con Baze, per primo entrambi abbiamo figli, ci piace divertirci. Mi piace la birra, così come Baze.

21. Come è stato interpretare il ruolo di un dio in "Valentine", anche se per un breve periodo?
Mi sono divertito un sacco interpretando Danny, era così libero e gratuito. Interpretare lui mi ha permesso di pensare fuori dagli schemi e di aumentare la mia qualità interpretativa. E 'stato un grande lavoro, e ho avuto modo di interpretare un dio. Non male.

Dopo aver celebrato calorosamente la notizia di un rinnovo, è tempo di scendere

alle attività per conservare Life Unexpected buono e piacevole - e le stars valutano la strada che desiderano che i loro personaggi prendano.

Kerr Smith, per esempio, è tutto riguardo a rompere il sacro triumvirato di Life Unexpected con Lux (Britt Robertson), Cate (Shiri Appleby) e Baze (Kristoffer Polaha). Se fosse per lui, il suo personaggio Ryan, che ha sposato Cate dopo tutti i “valzer romantici” della prima stagione , non sarebbe il bravo ragazzo che tutti lo ritagliano ad essere.

"Non mi piace interpretare personaggi che sono proprio un taglio netto", dice a Zap2it. "Mi piace entrare nella sporcizia, perché tutti hanno dello sporco addosso. Così mi piacerebbe entrare un po’ nella storia di Ryan."

Polaha, da parte sua, dice che secondo lui sua figlia sullo schermo Lux “rifiorirà”" dopo la sua ribellione da bambina nella stagione inaugurale.

"Credo che stia per avere una sensazione tipo 'i miei genitori hanno adottato un limone?' e vorrà veramente dimostrare che è intelligente e buona e tutta quella roba, che porterà al caos, alla commedia e a grandi momenti ".

E che dire del lato spesso ignorato (e immaginario) del triangolo amoroso di Cate, per Math? Polaha dice che ha avuto un umiliazione e rivela le sue speranze che Math potrà finalmente fare un passo in avanti.

"La mia speranza per il personaggio [di Austin ] è che infine “scenda dal carro” di Cate e si trovi una sana fidanzata".

Ma tornando al rinnovo, come ha festeggiato la notizia il cast di Life Unexpected?

Smith dice di aver rifiutato di accendere il suo telefono la mattina degli upfront perché "proprio non ha voluto trattare" con esso, solo per essere inondato da 20 o più messaggi quando finalmente lo ha acceso a mezzogiorno.

La Appleby è andata a bere con il resto del cast, mentre Basis scherzava dicendo che era stato ad attendere presso la sede upfront per tre mesi.

La cretrice di Lux Liz Tigelaar è stata più succinta. Ha tweettato: "Stagione 2 !!!!!!! Yippppeeeee Baby!"

ESCLUSIVO: Sneak Peaks della Seconda stagione di Life Unexpected della CW!

Dopo essere stato rinnovato per una seconda stagione, il cast di Life Unexpected ha fatto il suo viaggio di ritorno a Vancouver.

Iniziano le riprese della seconda stagione la prossima settimana, ma sono già occupati con raccordi e provini. La creatrice dello show Liz Tigelaar si augura di fare questa stagione ancora migliore della prima e di costruirla sulla base degli spettatori che sono stati in grado di ottenere lo scorso anno.


Kristoffer Polaha che è il padre di Lux nello show, si è affrettato a ad individuare il nostro fotografo. Ha parlato un pò con lui presentandosi e presentandogli Austin Basis che interpreta l'amico di Baze. Sono felici di essere tornati e sono in attesa di ciò che porterà questa stagione .

GETTING TO KNOW: Kristoffer Polaha:


My big break was… A play in New York called Bread and Butter. It was the first full-length play that Eugene O’Neill ever wrote. I received a lot of glowing reviews out of it and from there I was able to get a manager and an agent.
I left NYC for LA when… I met my wife. I was in LA meeting up with some buddies and I walked into this little restaurant called Casa Vega, and in the middle of this half-circle of guys was this stunning beauty. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. We chatted the whole night, and the next night, and then I literally stayed.
On-set with Brittany Robertson [Polaha’s costar]… I have to remind myself, you’re not her dad, she’s your equal and what were you doing at 19? I totally have a paternal bond with her.
When Brittany texts between takes… I’m like, what is this fandangled thing you do? Then I scratch my head and look at her like she’s a little alien.

The last fan comment on my Facebook page was… “I think you’re going to be a big star but there’s no chemistry between you and your [on-screen] daughter.” I was going to write back, but my wife told me not to.
The best lesson I’ve learned so far is… Humility. My wife taught me that.
When you become a father… You realize it’s no longer your movie. When you meet somebody, you’re a costar. But the minute you have kids you’re just an extra.
One of my favorite things about living in LA is… The beach. We like to take drives out to Malibu.

Liz Tigelaar: Season 2 is about: Who am I now? Who am I now that I’ve been adopted? Who am I now that I’m married? Who am I now that I’m a step-father or a father? Who am I now that I lost the girl? Who am I now that my daughter didn’t choose me? Who am I now that I got what I wanted? Who do my parents expect me to be? What if I’m not what they really wanted? What if they got a lemon or a dud? What if they think I’m someone I’m not? It’s redefining who they are now in light of what happened in the finale. It’s all those questions.

Tigelaar: People’s weddings usually don’t get stopped. They went through with it and we wanted to end the season with a bang and not necessarily with a cliffhanger, because we didn’t know if we would come back. I think we wanted to show an end to the story that we told. The season began with a proposal and ended with a wedding, and now we’re launching in a new direction. The idea is that whether Baze [Kristopher Polaha] successfully stopped the wedding or not, he still stepped up and was ready to do something, and that was the evolution of his character.

TVGuide.com: Lux goes from having no parents, to having two fathers in Ryan and Baze. Will they be fighting over her?
Tigelaar: Yeah, Baze and Ryan are not going to be fighting like they were in Season 1. The gauntlet has been thrown down, and Ryan has sensibly won. There’s going to be a struggle in terms of how Ryan fits into Lux’s life and what does it mean now that he’s a step-dad? Baze has been such a point of contention in Cate and Ryan’s relationship, and what they don’t know yet is that there are so many other things that can be points of contention broader than Baze. Lux, in a way, can be one of them. We’re going to see Ryan not wanting to be on the outside looking in and [figuring out] if he wants his own kids.
TVGuide.com: Cate and Baze’s relationship can’t be over, right?
Tigelaar: Of course not. Cate and Baze aren’t over. We’re in it for the long haul. Their relationship will shift in a way that will make you love them together, but it’s more of them against the world instead of them against each other.
TVGuide.com: We hear that Baze will have to work with his father this season. Will their relationship continued to be strained?
Tigelaar: I think his relationship with his father has evolved. You can’t just say ‘I love you’ and a switch is flipped, but I think that we’re telling a story of two people trying to change their dynamic. What we do in this season will be working towards that.

TVGuide.com: What new characters will you be introducing this season?
Tigelaar: The family of the show is broadening out in that there are characters who are going to affect our core family. Also, we’re going to have the family of our show back: Bug, Tasha, Jones, Laverne, Abby, Jack. We’re introducing a new foil at the radio station for Cate: Kelly, the fake virgin. Amy Price Francis plays her and we’re really excited about that.

Liz Tigelaar: Season 2 is about: Who am I now? Who am I now that I’ve been adopted? Who am I now that I’m married? Who am I now that I’m a step-father or a father? Who am I now that I lost the girl? Who am I now that my daughter didn’t choose me? Who am I now that I got what I wanted? Who do my parents expect me to be? What if I’m not what they really wanted? What if they got a lemon or a dud? What if they think I’m someone I’m not? It’s redefining who they are now in light of what happened in the finale. It’s all those questions.
TVGuide.com: Why did you have Cate (Shiri Appleby (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/shiri-appleby/174603?rss=news&partnerid=spi&profileid=05)) and Ryan (Kerr Smith (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/kerr-smith/160523?rss=news&partnerid=spi&profileid=05)) actually get married in the finale?
Tigelaar: People’s weddings usually don’t get stopped. They went through with it and we wanted to end the season with a bang and not necessarily with a cliffhanger, because we didn’t know if we would come back. I think we wanted to show an end to the story that we told. The season began with a proposal and ended with a wedding, and now we’re launching in a new direction. The idea is that whether Baze [Kristopher Polaha] successfully stopped the wedding or not, he still stepped up and was ready to do something, and that was the evolution of his character.

TVGuide.com: Lux goes from having no parents, to having two fathers in Ryan and Baze. Will they be fighting over her?
Tigelaar: Yeah, Baze and Ryan are not going to be fighting like they were in Season 1. The gauntlet has been thrown down, and Ryan has sensibly won. There’s going to be a struggle in terms of how Ryan fits into Lux’s life and what does it mean now that he’s a step-dad? Baze has been such a point of contention in Cate and Ryan’s relationship, and what they don’t know yet is that there are so many other things that can be points of contention broader than Baze. Lux, in a way, can be one of them. We’re going to see Ryan not wanting to be on the outside looking in and [figuring out] if he wants his own kids.
TVGuide.com: Cate and Baze’s relationship can’t be over, right?
Tigelaar: Of course not. Cate and Baze aren’t over. We’re in it for the long haul. Their relationship will shift in a way that will make you love them together, but it’s more of them against the world instead of them against each other.
TVGuide.com: We hear that Baze will have to work with his father this season. Will their relationship continued to be strained?
Tigelaar: I think his relationship with his father has evolved. You can’t just say ‘I love you’ and a switch is flipped, but I think that we’re telling a story of two people trying to change their dynamic. What we do in this season will be working towards that.

TVGuide.com: What new characters will you be introducing this season?
Tigelaar: The family of the show is broadening out in that there are characters who are going to affect our core family. Also, we’re going to have the family of our show back: Bug, Tasha, Jones, Laverne, Abby, Jack. We’re introducing a new foil at the radio station for Cate: Kelly, the fake virgin. Amy Price Francis plays her and we’re really excited about that.

We’ve been hearing a lot about a new character named Julia. What can you tell us about her?
Julia is a character from Ryan’s past who comes to shed a little more light on who Ryan is. We introduced her in the pilot, but we’ll actually meet her in a series of flashbacks that take us back into season 1 and show us that there are some things going on that we didn’t quite know about, and in [a different] context it really changes things. She’ll definitely be an obstacle in Cate and Ryan’s marriage. She’s an exciting character. She’ll come in within the first 13 [episodes], and should we get a back 9, she’ll be a big part of it.
So she’s essentially there to show us that maybe Ryan isn’t the saint we thought he’s been.
I feel protective of Ryan in that he really is a great guy. Everyone keeps saying “Ryan’s not perfect,” but I’m like “No, he still kind of is, he’s just human.” I think Ryan’s a really interesting character because to be with somebody like Cate, he has to be, on some level, messed up. And we haven’t really explored how Ryan is messed up. He has to be. You don’t choose Cate if you’re, like, a totally normal person, I don’t think. So it’s kind of like, well, what is Ryan’s deal? What is his damage? What are his flaws? I think that’s what we want to explore.
In some ways, Kerr is very anxious to dirty the character up. Of course I want to too, but I don’t want to dirty him up too much. I wanted to make him real and make him human. To both Cate and Ryan, it’s important that in some ways he’s a better person than her. I think that’s why she married him, and I think there’s something about him that needs to feel like the better person. So when things get more equaled out, it’s kind of an interesting question of, like, where does that leave them now?
My theory: Julia’s Ryan’s ex-girlfriend from high school whom he has a secret teenage daughter with.
[Laughs] That would be amazing. That’s not a bad idea. Not quite, but, you know, there’s something to it.

But if you’ve seen Monday’s season premiere, you get the idea that things are not all sunshine and rainbows between the two—especially when Ryan gets a mysterious phone call from a “Julia,” and the audience is privy to a one-sided convo that goes something along the lines of: “Don’t worry. Everything’s fine. Cate has no idea.” Hmph. We don’t like it. But it does create a slot for Jamie on LUX, so it’s a good thing, right?!
“We’re so excited Jamie’s playing Julia,” Liz (Tigelaar) gushes. “She’s really, really good.” Just don’t expect to see the starlet right of the bat; it’s a slow burn before Jamie’s “other woman” makes her debut.
Explains Liz: “We Julia in the premiere, and then we let Cate and Ryan go on with their lives for a little bit. But her name starts coming up again, and Cate’s confused about who this person is. We’ll actually see some flashbacks of who this person is, and how she knows Ryan.”
“Julia’s a person who was an integral person in Ryan’s past,” Liz teases. “He’s moved on and is with Cate, but in the course of season one she reappeared and there are repercussions of that. She’s definitely lightly threaded into the first 13, and if we get a back nine, she’ll be back. She be a character who’s going to stir some stuff up for them.”
And now the important question: Is Ryan not really the wonderful, perfect guy we thought he was? “Ryan is as a great as we think he is,” Liz tells us, defending him, “it’s just that he [I]is human.”

The new Tuesday combination of ONE TREE HILL and LIFE UNEXPECTED led The CW to its largest Tuesday night audience (2.0mil) in a year (best since 9/15/09), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2010.

Entering its eighth season, ONE TREE HILL continued to deliver, posting the network’s largest audience (2.2mil) in its new Tuesday 8:00-9:00p.m. lead-off position in almost a year (best since 10/20/09). And in key demos, ONE TREE HILL scored the time period’s best ratings since Dec. 2009 in women 18-34 (1.9/6), adults 18-34 (1.3/5) and adults 18-49 (1.1/4).

ONE TREE HILL was slightly above or on par with its season finale in May across all key categories, including total viewers (up 10%), adults 18-34 (flat), women 18-34 (flat), adults 18-49 (up 10%) and women 18-49 (flat). Compared to last year’s season 7 premiere (on Mondays), ONE TREE HILL’s debut last night retained 88% of its total audience and 92% of its adults 18-49 performance from last year.

LIFE UNEXPECTED delivered The CW’s largest total audience (1.7mil) in the Tuesday 9:00-10:00pm in a year (best since 9/15/09), and reached The CW’s best demos in this time period among women 18-34 (1.5/4) and adults 18-34 (1.0/3) since 11/17/09.

On the local level, ONE TREE HILL was number one in its time period among women 18-34 in such major markets as New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Cleveland. The CW affiliates in Atlanta and Orlando ranked #1 on Tuesday among young women with the combination of ONE TREE HILL and LIFE UNEXPECTED.

Life Unexpected officially canceled 2 hour series finale January 18

Confirming the obvious with the lack of back order and the complete series DVD set Creator Liz Tigelaar has confirmed the cancellation "yeah. it's called being canceled. which sucks!" the show's final two episodes will air back-to-back on Tuesday, January 18.

Keep a big box of tissues handy while watching this week's episode, "Stand Taken". It is arguably the series' best episode, with huge reveals about Lux (and Emma's) past, and an Emmy-worthy performance by Britt Robertson. And the emotionally taxing episode really sets the stage for the final two of the series season. Also, Eric says three little words to Lux…any guesses?

First, make sure to keep Tuesday, Jan. 18, open because the last two episodes of the season/series (same difference) are airing back-to-back starting at 8 p.m. OK, so you're not going to get the ending of your dreams (neither is show runner Liz Tigelaar, so don't pout too much), but they are satisfying and really focus on the core relationships of the show. And following last week's jaw-dropping episode, "Stand Taken," we'll really see Lux coming into her own and finally feeling like a part of the family, particularly when it comes to her relationship with Cate.

Life Unexpected exited with a mere (and very last-place) 1.1/ 2 in the overnights at 9 p.m. An 8 p.m. edition of the drama also scored a 1.1/ 2. To the viewers angry that The CW has cut it loose, keep in mind that it did grant it a second season.
